Confession time - I tried on a 36 mm TT DJ today and was most impressed!!

Hi guys,

Finally took up the courage to try on a 36 mm TT DJ on Jubilee - it was a champagne dial with baton markers and Romans on the peripheri.

I was impressed with the size and thought it looked perfect........in fact, much better than the massive DJ-II!!

Must say, I have to take back all that I've said about the 36 mm size - I think it's just about perfect for a dress watch.

Cheers - JJ

What are you saying JJ?

Out of your 29 watches and all those years of being a WIS you've never tried on or owned a DJ?

I did, Leo......in fact, my very FIRST Rolex in Oct. 1980 was a TT DJ, and then I owned a couple of others - but these were the older models with the narrow lugs.

Today, I tried on the 116233 - the newer one and found it very dressy, especially with the stunning TT bracelet.

My first Rolex was a V serial TT champ dia dial jubilee 36mm DJ and it was gorgeous. I just sold it 2 days ago.... Bought a President 18k YG dia dial F series and think I might have been ripped by a US store. Rolex will have to authenticate it this week and give me the verdict.

Miss my datejust. Hope my new pride and joy isnt a counterfeit.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks welcome back to sanity JJ, The DJ has been 36mm since the early 50's and still looks great after more then a half century.

I still like the older 16200 series. I'm all about the brushed finish.

So JJ, when did you start wear a dress?

You've allways been a bit ambidextrous for as long as I've known you.

Good to hear...would never consider one of these watches..but you have roused my interest JJ
Question: why did it take courage to try one on? Fear of what......????

Ya know, the "Flip" !

Its all about the flip, you buy something and then it just happens - FLIP.

Its really something to fear, the temptation can cause havoc with even the most "seasoned WIS". It starts jumping into your thoughts right when you start reaching for the AMEX and you see the "36" sitting there; or when after you've bought something and you really like what you've got then you walk into it...
~The dreaded ROLEX Forum.
You see all these watches and its there, you see and wonder, "what if" and you get these ideas, and you start evaluating your collection, and you wonder, and you eat, you drink, you contemplate, you fantasize, eating at your brain. Then the very thought begins to invade the majority of most basic needs, your having a nice breakfast with the wife and you look at your wrist and you see the laptop over there and its "on" and you see the ROLEX website on the screen and it "calls out" to you and you look.

It's not a mental state to take lightly, seek help, find a friend, a fellow WIS sometimes can be of comfort, but in the end ALL they "want" is the one you are thinking to get rid of.

It goes on and on...

Only difference is that in this case I wish to get rid of NONE of the 3 beauties I own.

I loved the feel and look of the newer case 36 mm on my wrist, but what I really want is the Super Jubilee bracelet.

Wow, JJ, I wasn't expecting this! I'm really glad you see the beauty in the classic 36mm DJ. I LOVE them and think they're perfect as they are, whether SS or TT.

Gotta show mine of course! Been wearing this for the last week

Hijack in Progress !

Actually the "Super Jubilee" has existed since the late 70s I believe. I bought an all 18K GMT MASTER(16718 is the model for that period if I remember,??) in 1980 and it had a Super. They just hadnt made them for SS or 2T models until recently. Unfortunately the Supercased GMTc in 18K does not have this strap which is beyond me as to why they dont have it since it was a standard strap on all previous "Pre-C" model 18Ks...
