1st post - datejust II
This is my first post here, so be nice, especially if i make a mistake.
Looking to purchase my first Rolex.. and i am pretty excited about it ! After looking at all the beautiful watches at the local AD.. AND my bank account, i feel pretty certain i've made up my mind. i will be picking out the SS Datejust II with black dial. As gorgeous as the white dial is, the black one added a certain sportiness on my wrist when encased in a 41mm bezel. The local AD will sell it for $7100 after discount (unfortunately, i forgot the MSRP) i feel this is slightly high.. What is the best way to acquire this watch? i am not sure i want to go to all of the ADs to negotiate a deal one by one.. i am located in southern california near los angeles. Can someone recommend a reputable AD? a price i should shoot for? Also, why doesnt the black dial show up in the Rolex website ? They only show 4 models of Datejust II.. Thanks in advance for all the help ! |

congrats on the choice.
Is it the black with White batons? It is a handsome looking piece. I liked it when trying it on. Look forward to your wrist shots. |

Congrats and welcome to TRF.
That price is way too high. Check out our forum under the For Sales section. There's a brand new one going for much, much less. Good luck - JJ

good price that - but it is a White dial not the black the op wanted. But I'm sure there is always the option of doing the dial change. ;-)

an ss DJ II w/ white dial is going for $6400 on the for sale section and a blue/roman dial went for around $6000 last month. I'd contact one of the reputable dealers here and see what kind of deal you can get.

very true. But it all depends if a black dial can be sourced within op's time and $$$ requirement.
I also went for that route for my DJ2, but luckily the one I wanted came through from the AD. |

that's correct crazycarlitos. It is the same one. But sometime you may not be able to locate one within your preferred price range.
Favourite forum sellers are a great source too simply because they can offer amazing deals - as long as they have the ones you are after. |

and yes i looked at the white one he has for sale.. but i am not sure how the process of the changing dial works.. if it de-values the watch at all.. if they will any scratches from the change.. if i'd rather pay a little extra for one with black dial straight from Rolex.. i'll send davidsw a message anyways. |

Just send DAVIDSW an email and ask him for a BLACK dial straight away. He will surely be able to source out an ORIGINAL BLACK dial one for you. Good luck - JJ

change of dial is apparently quite popular here in the uk. The reason I suggested this option is that if the op can buy the White dial at a very very good price when compared to his AD price, then he can contact the RSC and request a dial change to the one of his liking.
Like I have mentioned earlier, I was almost convienced of this option by about 3 uk ADs to purchase a TT DJ2 in a different dial and change to the slate dial I wanted initially at the RSC when the dial is available as a spare part in about 3 months time. I'm sure most people is quite familiar with dial change options within the DJ and DD ranges. |

The centre links on the bracelet are polished and would be prone to scratches; but they can be buffed out. JJ
