I'd say, judging from the note, it is in for a "whitening," or possibly wax removal.

There was some discoloration on the casing that produced a blemish almost unnoticeable except to the scruitinizing eye of a "seasoned aficionado" !

I sent it to ROLEX GENEVA for chemical analysis and I was correct as there was an impurity present in the 904L of the "mid casing". The techs were quite surprised and are replacing the case at no charge...

Thanks,
Randy

i dont know, dont even want to go there. Plus its recently fallen out of Warranty as it was recently Overhauled by ROLEX GENEVE (again).
I have learned long ago that RUSA is a machine that doesnt exactly function to manys a likin, so I dont even bother with them, even for warranty work...

I have never seen or heard of that before. I am glad Rolex is taking care of it for you.

Very interesting story.

I read about something similar with the raw 904L but not actually making it to the finished product in a Rolex book, maybe the WatchTime Rolex special edition, not sure... Something similar to:

"When its technicians discovered a microscopic trace of titanium in a shipment of [904L] steel, Rolex returned the entire shipment – 10 tons of steel – to the supplier."

Yea John, I have that issue as well.

I did remember them reporting that Rolex does this. This is firsthand account of blemishes occurring.

Yup, I would not think that RUSA would have even taken it to test...

Good job Randy RSC USA IMHO would not do anything for free on a watch out of warranty. Are they going to stamp your serial in a fresh case or is it going to be a replacement serial #? I have herd that in Geneve anythings possible.

Good question, I was wondering that also.

Also Randy, whatever happened with Brian Williams? Is he really a fellow WIS?

So will you get a new case with correct serial or a 44XXXXXX service case?

Congrats Sink, about time you got it.

Now read that little green sticker to find out if you have to swirl it or not before winding.
