Is this a good deal on a GMT Master II BLRO?

Hi All,

I posted an intro, but I don't think it's been approved by the mods yet.

A semi-local AD has a Z serial (I think the 2nd digit was a 2) 16710 BLRO for sale, brand new, been in the case for at least 1.5 years. It's sticker is $5750, he's willing to sell it to me for $5400, and if I pay with cash, $5200. For $35 he will ship it to me (out of state) and not charge me sales tax, so all-in cost is $5235. I negotiated hard but he will not budge.

It has the stick markers, but obviously I have no way of knowing if it has the upgraded movement (3186).

What do you think?

Best,
Josh

That is a good price from an AD. BNIB 16710 GMT's are getting much harder to find these days. You can find one for less over in the for sale section of this forum, albeit pre-owned.

It doesn't.

As stated above, those are pretty hard to buy new from AD's these days, but cheaper ones can be found if you don't need the AD experience.

Have to agree with Larry and the stick markers are just a different font change nothing more nothing less.

Exactly, the movement means nothing, it's all hype anyway. Best of luck with your purchase.

A BNIB Pepsi. Nice.

Man, if you can find a Minty pre-owned one on TRF, you could save a grand or so. Worth some looking...or just grab this one and don't look back.

That's a good deal, I think it almost definitely has 3185 movement.

It's getting harder and harder to find 16710 BNIB at AD, Grab it while you can

Thanks Guys!

I'll let you know soon what the outcome is ...

BTW: When it comes to filling out the warranty card/cert, can it be left blank, should it be left blank? I'm thinking if for some reason I were to sell this at some point (hopefully not) down the road, would it be better for my name to not be listed, or will the AD not even allow it to be left blank?

Warranty is only 2 years right??? I don't know as I buy pre owned...

So if you sell after that time it is sort of irrelevant. Less relevant with 16710 blro since it has been discontinued.

2 years, correct. And I assume that warranty service can be performed by any ARC/AD, not just the one I may buy from?

Curious, why irrelevant? Do they not maintain parts for the 16710 BLRO?

Sorry my bad. Forgot that you are buying from an AD so your warrnty will be good for 2 years. Thought you were concerned about resale and you were thinking warranty matters to the next buyer.

Parts will be around

FWIW, you probably won't have to rely on the warranty. Likely nothing will go wrong.

As a contingency I thought that would be important, in the event I needed to flip it < 2 years from now. I hope that is not the case. But in the event, if my name is on the card, the warranty only applies to the original purchases, correct? And do I have a "right" to ask the AD not to put my name on the card?

Hmm. Sorry. Don't know. Never bought a Rolex from an AD. However, an Omega AD sold me my Speedy with a blank card.

I paid list but no tax for mind last year.
I am pretty sure it's 3186 from the wiggle test.
But after have it for a while I don't think movement is matter anymore.
It's just purely awesome and classic timepiece. It's a real keeper.

That`s good deal for such classic!
And I really wouldn`t bother about it`s movement, point is that it`s BNIB, and for a fair price!

A sweet watch, but...Wow! Even a 'semi-local' AD should be safe - its BNIB and they only buy those from the factory, no? Otherwise, I would hope that they would sell it at super-good discount as a 'pre-owned.' Do you think that they are tooling up to the degree Greg described for the older models? If so, double ouch! Good luck in your purchase...

i think the 3186 movement started on the m series 16710. last production..fair price for a bnew one. that has the 3185 movement. but both are equally good .....that's a collectors item already..pepsi

That's a good deal!

They are not making any more of them.

Get it while you can.

If you don't, PM me the AD info and I will get it!!
