Just wondering what is the best flashlight in the market to recharge the lume at night besides the shiny sun. Is there a special kind of light emission that recharges the lume very fast. I have some powerful ones for using in underground mines but they are not that small

and Merry Christmas to all in TRF too..

Any sort of bright light will charge the lume,but myself now at my time of life like to get as much sleep as possible.So charging the lume on watches is way down the list,and a goods nights sleep is far more important to me.

I have Surefire and Fenix lights. My Fenix is 225 lumens. Its blinding in daylight. Even on my cheap watches it charges the lume in about 10 seconds.

I use Surefire G2 for tossing around and normal requirements, as cheap and durable as they come.

I have other Surefire for more specialize usage.

I also use a surefire. Best light around. It's compact and has lithium batteries that have a really long shelf light and last pretty well too.

Any ultra-violet light will do the job 100x better than a bright flashlight. This is why the lume charges really good outside even on a cloudy day - it's all the UV light you can't see.

I found this out by accident when I took one of my LED flashlights (which has two modes - regular and UV) and mistakenly turned on UV instead of regular light to charge my Tissot's lume. It was only on for a second or two, but it charged the lume way fast! I then tried it again, but left the UV on for about 10 seconds - man was it BRIGHT after that! Try it yourself and see.

I use this little UV light, (1" 1/2 long) that Dan of Ball watch Co. gave me.

A few seconds and the lume is like daylight.

I have a Surefire E2D Defender that is unbelievably bright. That thing will fully charge my Rolex lume in about two seconds flat. No lie.

Some time ago "Frostie" had a video of a watch that was so strong, that it could actually set fire to paper. Thats what you call a lume charger!

Check out dealextreme - ships from HK (usually for free) and the mini UV lights are really cheap. I've ordered quite a bit of stuff from them.

Ditto on the SureFire's.... I own three, the mini defender, the LED defender, and a variable intensity model (forgot the model names). Fantastic lights.

They do make an IR light.

I would be curious on the advantages of the IR lights (and where to obtain). There is a flashlight forum (www.candlepowerforums.com) that has discussion on flashlights, but I dont want to navigate through the all conversations...

The watch head and light head are almost the exact same size.

I have several Surefire flashlights. The have a website that covers all their models. LA Police supply sells them and gives extra batteries. Besides charging my watch I always have a surefire on my nightstand. The light is bright enough to disorient someone for a few seconds although I've only used it on a javelina that was charging my dog as I walked him in from his 10:00 p.m. constitution. I think Surefires are the Rolex of flashlights.

SUREFIRE is the one to get. LED bub, lithium batteries you can NOT go wrong.

Heard good things about FENIX but have never handled a unit.

My Fenix lights are every bit as solid and durable as my Surefire lights. I have the TX10 model and its 225 lumens or 60 lumens. You can switch between the two. On 225 it is blinding even in daylight. It throws very far and bright at night too. An excellent light for the $85 I paid for it. It is brighter than my Surefire that cost twice as much. Surefire is excellent however as well.

You can not go wrong with either light.

Don't know if this is the BEST but for $7.00 at Sears here is what I use.

LED bulb with a lifetime warranty

2 AA batteries which last 7 hours of continuous light.

Water proof.

The best buy for the $... I have a bunch of them for use in the cars and house.

Yeah. UV light is the way to go. That's the exact one I have. Works like a charm. One second and you got a full charge. And also works great at detecting pee stains and bodily fluids at hotels if you want to do a spot check on that 5-star rating you're paying for. LOL

At 17 bucks, everyone should have one.
