Basel 2010

I will be in Basel for the 2010 show and was wondering who else from this forum will be there? A meet and greet could be fun if anyone is interested.

I'm planning on it too Brian, as we get closer, I'm sure we'll get a bunch of TRFers that are making the trip (and those that already live there), and arange some kind of GTG

From previous experience, I believe press and industry types get up close and personal, but the public side of it is a much more watered down experience. I can't be sure, but I have heard this from a few associates who were dissapointed with what they got to see relative to what was there to be seen.

Well, perhaps we need our resident Rolex Dr...Jocke to do the major photo recon for us. Not sure what this show is like, but since I cannot go, I will look forward to seeing the coverage by the "in-crowd" of TRF'ers.

+1 Heard this from a jeweler I am friendly with. He told me NOT to go last year because when he first went he could not get in to a lot of the manufacturers display tents because he did not have the requisite passes. All of the cool stuff, therefore, requires special passes to see - it's just too much trouble to try to get all the passes you need if you aren't in the business (if not impossible) so I'll be skipping Basel this year. It's a shame that it's not more egalitarian.

I'm all booked up to go. Never been before and very excited. I do hope it is not a disappointment.

I have been before and I can tell you from personal experience that you get to see what you want. It is definitely not a watered down experience or just for industry insiders.
