1962 Navy SEAL issue Sub/no date

All,
My Uncle who is a retired SEAL, was issued a Rolex Sub-no date in 1962 by the Navy. It is in average condition as he wears it every day, and has not been abused. He is not a collector and has no idea what his watch is really worth. He wants to insure it, and I thought that someone here might have a guess as to it's current insurable value. He thinks is maybe worth around $500.00. I told him he will be surprised, but I have no idea, but I know it's way more than $500.00. Do any of you want to give a ballpark guess?? We would be grateful.

I'm not as up to speed as I should be on these. It's my understanding there were some Tudor Subs issued during this time. I've read of pricing in the 10K range, but I honestly have no idea.

As stated a photo and any supporting documentation would be a great help.

Maybe one of the real experts in this area can help.

My Uncle is in Virginia and I am in Atlanta, so pictures are out. I know absolutely it is not a Tudor, but a 1962 Navy issue Rolex Sub-no date. I know pictures would help, but I am just asking for a ballpark figure for his insurance Co., and to surprise him with the value.
The last time I saw it at Thanksgiving, it was in good shape, but you could tell he does wear it every day. He is absolutely not interested in selling it, but was interested in it's approx. value.

I would appreciate any help, if someone has an educated guess.

That's what it looks like, but his does not have engraving on the back, and the article mentioned nothing about value. I am just wanting a good/educated guess as to value for his watch.

Ok. Does he have anything showing the navy issue? Or is it just the watch?

As an owner of a Rolex that has been in my family since 1952 and worn daily until recently, it is so true.

You're right somehow frogs have evolved to seals.

On the original question, I don't think an educated guess is even possible without pics. There can be so many different variables. The guys here are not just giving you a hard time...
