Hi all,

I am interested in buying a Rolex from my birth year that is 1976, wich references is possible? Only Submariner's and GMT's if possible?

I was born in 1980, and id love a 1980 Rolex too....got me thinking now...

Ok, Thanks, so my options are if I understand you correctly:

Sub Date Ref 1680
Sub Non Date Ref 5513
GMT Master Ref 1675

Questions:

Are all of these with plasic crystal?
Is the 5513 not availible with Date?
Witch of these are the easiest/cheapest to find/buy?

Yes plastic crystals but very easy to polish out any scratches if needed.And most watches with acrylic crystals have them changed as part of normal routine service.The 5513 is the classic Sub IMHO but has no date feature with a great 15XX series movement IMHO one of the best Rolex has ever made.But Rolex today RSC are sometimes refusing to service watches over 30 years old.But there are plenty of service parts world wide still for the these watches. And a few very good independents that will service these vintage watches as good or better than the RSC.I would say the 5513 would be the easiest to find but most good vintage now fetch a premium price.

Thanxs, I really like them all so as soon as I find any of these that has been sold 1976 I will probobly pull the trigger, if reasonably priced off course!

And the serial number to aim for would be between 4,5-5 mil according to this serial number list that I have found, does anybody know if this is correct?

In my case the the watch would be to old I think...I'm a 65er.

From 1998 dials with just Swiss at 6 o'clock only that was the start of Superluminover.

There are 2 types of "dates" one with production year and one with purchase dates.

I have noticed certain vintage Rolexs not getting sold for 1-2 years based on dating the serial number and original purchase papers.

Rolex US is getting worse about not servicing vintages, but Official RSCs in other countries are still servicing them.

Just want to echo some previous posts on this thread.

I don't wear my birth year watches because I'm afraid I will damage them. This was a big struggle for me, spending lots of money on 2 watches I only admire.
