MilgauSs Decision
I am on the hunt for my next Rolex, I can not get into my grail which is a Daytona, and with talk of a possible Daytona II with date or larger size I will hold off anyway..
But to my question, which Milgaus do you guys/gals prefer...or do you not prefer any...I have a GMTIIc with the PCL and I am not a big fan of the bling factor...and am going to brush those out...and I know the Millie also comes with the PCLs, so that might hinder my decision a bit, but some of you might like the PCLs but might not like the bolt second hand or the orange or green...lets hear your opinions and your reasons for liking or disliking this Rolex...Thanks |

I like the black dial one, not the GV. The green glass and the orange hand doesnt match well.

Black dial. BTW, the PLCs on the Milgauss look right since the entire case and bezel are also polished. My current favorite of the 40mm Rolexes. At least at this writing!

After seeing all three variants at my AD, I decided on the GV. To me, it was the most unique dial-hand-crystal combination. White dial was a close second.

The GV is a great looking watch, but I have a gut feeling that the white dialled one could be a bit of a collectors item in the future

I'm not really a Milgauss fan. If I HAD to choose one, I'd say plain black.

GV is my fave but the white dial is right behind it. And, by the way, absolutely LOVE the lightning bolt second hand!

I love my white Milgauss. It's comfortable, and not your "Typical" Rolex.

Really love the black one, it has a great look to it, but I think I may eventually spring for the GV.

I am up in the air about the green crystal. I am concerned that it doesn't really match most clothing. Thoughts?

I just cannot warm to it.
Say...a bit off topic, but does anyone know if Jason McLevoy ended up returning the White Dial Milgauss with misaligned text to his AD? |

When I first started to look seriously at getting a Rolex - about 3 months ago - I had my mind set on the Milgauss. The only one I had seen until then, was the GV, which I had my eye on since 2007 when it first came out. Well, I started looking on the Rolex website, then realized that there were two other versions as well as the GV. I saw the GV last year at an AD, but I was really surprised at how green it really was, and started to have second thoughts. When I did get serious about a Rolex, and went to look at them all, my AD had all 3 versions. The Black dial with clear crystal won hands down. Apart from the fact that the green was too much for me, I didn't care for the fact that the markers were a mix of white and orange. I liked the fact that the plain crystal/blk dial model had all white markers, and the smaller markers at the edge of the dial are plain orange markers rather than numbers.
I loved the lightning bolt orange second hand. I think that this simpler configuration makes the second hand even more distinctive. I love the Milgauss. It is one of the "richest" feeling watches I have ever worn. It somehow has a silky feel to it, especially with the smooth polished case and the luxurious feeling polished/brushed Easylink bracelet. This is a watch that I crave, even when I wear my other watches. I also love the fact that this beautiful case and dial disguise all of the innovations within, and the average person who looks at the watch has no idea of the movement, the special hairspring, or the Faraday cage. In spite of the fact it is a fairly heavy watch, and also 40mm, it is the most comfortable watch that I own. I also love the fact that it has no AR coating and it has such a beautiful natural shine to it. The inhouse Rolex 3131 movement is amazing. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Carl

Great review Carl. This is one watch that (if money were no object!) I could honestly own all iterations of it! |

White is right!
The white dial makes the watch look sporty, and goes with the extroverted styling of the yellow/orange indices, and the shazam hand. |

Black dial gets my vote
Milgauss is not a model I am particularly fond of, but the black seems to work well on my wrist... Cheers

I have a GV and always felt the others were not even close......but now, a few months later i think the plain black is almost as good.
I especially love the matte finish, which actually seems dark gray and not black.( i wish new Subs still had a matte finish) I cannot imagine the white dial growing on me the same way(its the clash of the lume and the white dial i just cannot get used to) But i know many like the white dial and thats cool with me! |

For some reason... to me the quintensential Milguass is the GV...
Maybe it was the most popular Mil at one time... but the Green and Orange does make a bold statement~ |

I have the GV and had the black. If it were to be an everyday wear I'd pick the black.
