Icon8 USPS Registered FPO Shipment Question

Hey guys, got a quick question regarding USPS Registered. My Tudor Sub was shipped from the US on the 31st of last month and still no sign of it. Should I start to worry? How slow is USPS Registered Mail really. I have no reason to distrust the seller, but when I log into the USPS Website and input the tracking info, all it tells me is that it was accepted for shipment, it doesn't even say it was sent! WTFO? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I filed a dispute with Paypal just to cover my butt, but I would really like the watch.

Signed,

Sleepless in Spain!

FYI, USPS is a terrible tracking system - i think it's just a basic confirmation only when it's delivered.

it's very inconsistent from my personal experience. if you want real tracking - try UPS or FedEx next time.

+1.

I would imagine that it would take a little longer for international beacuse USPS would have to hand over the shipment to EMS. (Different carrier, or just a subsidiary? Not sure)

Hang in there!

Steve:

I don't know about shipping to Spain, but I have been told registered mail is the safest and slowest method of shipping. Everybody that handles the package has to sign for it and if I recall correctly, it is also held in a safe storage area in between movements.

You should have it by the end of the week, maybe with the holidays beginning next week tops.
It takes time sending with USPS overseas.

Forgot to add, the shipment is going through the FPO AE here in Spain, (military postal system) I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this?

USPS has horrible tracking updates, but maybe it may be taking some time since it was shipped from another country. But USPS hasn't failed me yet, and I'm sure you'll have a happy ending.

That's what I need to hear, a little optimism.

Thanks!

Though the tracking is terrible, its the most reliable method of shipping. Why would you file a paypal dispute when you haven't received it yet? If it shows it was shipped then its still in the system and if its registered then its insured. Did you contact the seller beforehand to see whats going on?

I filed to cover my butt....You didn't read the post, it doesn't say it was ever shipped!

Yes, I contacted the seller and I will cancel the complaint as soon as I receive it. I don't know about you, but $2.5k is nothing I'm going to fool around with, especially with eBay.

Accepted in USPS terminology means shipped. They can't list it as accepted if it wasn't shipped and accepted at a USPO. Also if you bought it off of ebay your covered 100% with the paypal buyer protection by ebay. If you would of bought it off ebay and payed with paypal you would have no buyer protection except in the case of lack of delivery proof.

It has taken me a couple of weeks to get packages to and from Spain.
Now Hong Kong is like four days, the reason is the mail flight from Hong Kong lands in California where I live. Go figure

In almost 30 years of shipping using USPS registered mail I have never had a package not make it. A couple of times it took quite awhile, but they always have made it. Also shipping out of the country takes much longer than even what they tell you at the PO. I recently sent a package to Canada and it said 7-10 days with priority mail. Turned out to actually take almost a month with customs and everything else, but it arrive safe and sound !!

The PO. has been a bit better lately with their tracking, at least that's been my experience. It's not Fedex or UPS like, but it's getting better.

The amount of time for a USPS Registered to a FPO is not out of the norm. It will show up!

I once shipped a 3 carat diamond via registered mail from Florida to New York. It took a week and a half and the tracking only showed accepted until it was finally delivered. It is a nerve-racking waiting period but it will make it. It's too bad they don't adopt FedEx's tracking system.

You are in good hands...

Nicko:

I have to say that I was offended by your filing a complaint against me on PayPal. We were in contact all the time, exchanging daily emails about the shipment of your Tudor. I sent you scans of the actual receipt and customs form that I received when I shipped your watch. I shipped the watch exactly as you specified USPS registered mail. (I usually ship FedEx, because as a pilot for Frontier Airlines I get a special rate.) Your watch is in-transit and will arrive soon. Please be patient.

By filing a complaint against me on PayPal you bring into doubt my integrity and that is upsetting. I have been a seller for almost 10 years on Ebay and have sold many high end watches all without a single complaint. I have been a member of Timezone for 6 years and have dozens of references attesting to my honesty. I am also a watch collector and really enjoy the hobby of owning and restoring vintage watches. I take my Ebay responsibilities as a seller very seriously.

Welcome Bill, I 100% agree with you.
I would be offended too. Some buyers are hard to please.

As for you DVR, you would be wise to keep you comments to yourself, it's MY money we are talking about and not yours, and unless you know something I don't then shut the hell up...

But I know when not to interject comments when I know absolutely nothing about what is going on.

The above comment was uncalled for....

Today is 9 working days since it was sent to you on the 31st.You can go on USPS site and get a delivery times guide they are very good.http://www.usps.com/international/sendpackages.htm
USPS takes 10 days from US to Canada customs included if no problems. With Ebay you had 30 days to make a claim ,as well Spain customs can be a bit slow. That said enjoy your new watch when it comes.
