Etching pic

It took some doing but thought I'd post a pic of the etching on my SD. My macro lens is on loan but this was a pretty decent attempt with a mag filter!

Cool shot Charles. I've tried several times and failed miserably.

Very nice, Charles. Good shots of the etching.

Thanks! It's NOT easy! I had no idea it would be so hard...it helps to have an SLR and to put it in manual focus since auto-focusing on that seemed to confuse more than anything else.

Thanks everyone...it's really amazing the way you can turn the crystal just a hair and all of a sudden it's clear as day. I've tried to show it to people and no one believes it's there. :) "I swear I'm not making this up!"

That's a relief! I thought it was just me being inept, but I'm glad other people found it difficult too. (If you know what I mean)

No way...it's definitely not easy. I have no idea how guys are doing it with point & shoot cams in macro mode. I used my SLR in manual mode on a 200mm zoom with a mag filter and it was still a challenge. It'll be a lot easier when I get my macro back from loanership but I tried with a decent point & shoot just to try and quickly gave up.

That thing is a PITA to capture...

I only attempted once, and it literally was a one picture deal.

Great pic, Chip. That is a replacement crystal, hence the "S" for Service.

WOW!! Very good, Charles. Notice how the "knobs" on top of the coronet are well rounded. The hallmark of a genuine Rolex!!
