Sub
I've been reading a lot of posts saying that it would be a mistake for Rolex to do the same for the Sub as they did for the GMT IIc - ceramic bezel, changes in the bracelet, etc. Am I the only one excited about the possibility of a new Sub with a little bling?

I wouldn't say I'm "excited", but it will be nice to see Subs with a different "face" to them. Relax, people, it will be fine...

Not for me the sub is supposed to be a tools watch, but today most just wear the brand.I would doubt today if 90% of all divers watches ever see open water.I just like my Rolex watches old school they dont need any bling..

despite my being a retro-grouch curmudgeon(bah humbug).....change is needed(I do like pc's & the internet...we have this great forum!).......as long as Rolex keeps the look classic.....no polished center links....keep the lug holes on the 14060. OOOOHHHH I hope they don't drop the no date sub!!!! I can live w/ the maxi dial, ceramic bezel & different lug look.....but I prefer it to keep the same vibe....like the Deep Sea....it still has the elegant tool look...not a jewel look.

Actually I wasn't impressed with the GMTIIC, as I have a 16750 that suits me well. And these are after all, tool watches!

I'm sure I'll like the solid center linked bracelet and the new clasp mechanism. As for th fatter lugs, I have not warmed up to it yet.

Cal me an "old-fart" or whatever, but I like the sub the way it is...just as the Daytona should stay the way it is...

I'd say let's see how the new Sub looks first before making an opinion.

I look forward to the bling. How many use the Subbie for it's intended purpose? 1%?
I do hope it maintains the same capabilites; the over engineering is very attractive to me! |

I'm looking forward to it. As far as I'm concerned, the current Sub feels dated. An excellent watch for the 20th Century, but Rolex needs to be producing 21st Century watches now

I am curious to see it for sure, and I will be really disappointed it they ruin it with polished center links.

As most know I'm a big fan of the maxi dial and on the sub (given the venue it's designed for) it makes a lot of sense. The ceramic insert is ok. I would like to see a 60 minute insert ala the DSSD and Mil. Subs personally.
As to PCLs on a Submariner--not on stainless. Bright attracts things one might not to be attracted in the water. I'm ok with them on TTs, bit different mission to me. |

I'm looking forward to the updated Sub......especially the new bracelet with glide-lock.. If they use PCL's, I'd just brush them out..
I have said many times...I will not buy one of the new block cased watches - this one may change my mind in a couple of years.. you know...once all the hype and premiums have died down... Only a week to go..............

I like my sub the way it is; I certainly don't mind a change for those who want it.

I understand the pre-release concerns on the 116610; but as for me I still love the 16613 in black and I love the 116613 in blue and I'll probably own both. In the end (with the SS) I'll predict that the 16610 and the 116610 will be mutually loved.

Why would Rolex come out with a 16610 with the new serial number scheme if they were only to discontinue it 'days' later and replace it with this alleged 116610 aka SSc Sub.

I think it's time to update the current Sub. Not sure what it should look like but my vote would be for a maxi-dial, and RED sub lettering. Come on, who's with me?!

I don't think the new Sub will get PCL. But we'll see in a week.
