Hmmmm....so how do YOU plan on acquiring the new SS Sub-date when it's released?
If I can stretch my imagination a bit, I can bet my last bottom dollar that most of us are dancing from one foot to the other, fidgeting-fretting-fuming and impatiently wait for the quick release of the new and beautiful SS Sub-date at their local ADs. Question is: What financial plans have you made to acquire one? Thinking of selling a few from your current collection............or what? Basel Fairs have come out every year............but I think this would be the first time most of us impatient buggers would need to settle back and wish we had the patience of a Saint!! All the best, guys - JJ

I am going to wait until they are released so I can see one in person. If I fall in love with it...I will buy one and won't sell anything.
But, for some reason I think my Deep Sea will keep my satisfied and I won't feel the need for the new Sub. They are really nice though...

Good post JJ. Nice and fresh and keeping with the times mate!
Yes, after seeing the new Sub Date ceramic released at Basel, there's no question in my mind that I want one. Just have to decide whether to go for the Deepsea or push ahead for the new Sub. I already have an LV and in my mind that's etched into the category of classic and timeless Rolex look with the case design and all of the other features. It's the ceramic bezel, new bracelet and clasp and maxi dial that's the winner for me on this new Sub. Really looks the part I must say. As it happens I'm selling my GMT IIc as I just find it too similar looking to the Sub, and for me I'd rather wear the quintessential Rolex personally. Whether I use the funds of the sale of the IIc to put it all on the new Sub remains to be seen, but I'm pretty sure that I will get my hands on one of the new generation. How about you JJ? Tempted by the new generation Sub with all of the great upgrades?? |

I think it's sheer classic Rolex while at the same time really moving with the times and remaining totally modern as well. The biggest thing that concerns me is the way the prices are going on Rolex's sports range. For such a mass-produced watch that the new Sub will continue to be, where does the pricing have to reach before you say, "that's too much?"

I'm first in-line at my AD...
At first I thought that I might flip out my GMTc because of their similarities, but now I've convinced myself that there's room for both in my collection the bigger expense will come after i get it...when my wife says.."ok,now it's my turn.." |

My first thought was to trade up or sell my current to upgrade to the new Sub. (or DSSD)
However, after condemplating over it for a few months I have decided to put the extra money towards a new watch! Who knows what will happen once I do try one on for the first time!

Ummmmmmmmm ....................... Almost perfect. I do wish we'd have gotten a "Maxi-dial 14060M w/o a ceramic bezel. The 14060M is my tool watch and I'd destroy a ceramic bezel in a heart beat working around shipping containers as I do 10-12 hrs a day.

Rolex claims that their ceramic bezel is virtually "indestructible" (extremely scratch resistant)... We will have to test one of those on your job. :)

I for one don't want to be the test bunny. I can just imagine the look if I walked into the RSC in Dallas with a trashed, just released ceramic, and told them I wanted warranty on the bezel because it kissed a shipping container at the Houston port of entry.

I'm looking right now for a July purchase but my guess is that it will not be out until September/October in the dealers, so it is either GMT IIc or "old" SUB for me (and the GMT is winning votes from my wife/kids). btw, in an imaginary world with no cost restrictions, the new white gold and blue SUB does it for me - it looks amazing, but 30K for a watch ? come on.. :-)

It should be interesting to see how quickly the buyers remorse sales start to pop up on the forum. I have a feeling that Bodybump and DavidSW, just to name a few, are going to be quite busy.

If I was to sell my collection, it would be for my grail, which is most certainly not the ceramic bezel sub.

If you can actually reap a profit on your LV, then sell it and get the new Sub. If not, then just hang on to it. JJ
