Purely down to relationship with AD. That is all! If they know and like you , they will get you one, even skip you on the list.

Randoms coming in saying "got a Daytona?" normally get told 5 year waiting list....its who you know.

Exactly how rare is it to get a SS Daytona from ADs? I have had five since 2003. I think it all depends on how well you get on with your AD and rarity factor is it all a media and people hype. How many here wants one but cannot get one?

Call around to a bunch of ADs and you'll find one somewhere. It worked for me.

The SS Daytona is not a rare watch, merely difficult to get hold of brand new. If anything, the hype has put me off the watch, I'd far prefer to go down the TT route to get one

I posted this on an earlier thread, just my opinion that they are still made in the same quantity, just less and less people willing or able to drop $10,000 for a watch unless they are a true WIS. I think more people on here are able to get them due to the AD's making them available to the "common folk". There are also more and more people on this Forum so we hear about them all the time.
I know that I just got mine but prior to that, I literally walked into a 1/2 dozen AD's with cash for a SS Daytona and didn't get one... in this market, nobody with "lot's of them in the safe" turns down a man with a cash.

I got mine while I can, before the market recovers and some guy buying a $90,000 Diamond for the Mrs. gets offered the SS Daytona.

Just my thoughts.

i had to call every ad in michigan until i found an ad who had one in the color dial i wanted... it was pure luck i found one.. they charged me full price pluse a credit fee... they are hard to get. maybe these days people dont have as much cash sitting around which is why i lucked out on one... but, they are still hard to get non the less and just about any ad doesn't have one, and if they do, you can trust they just got it in and or saving it for a high end client.

Had a TT and sold it, but have me eye on a SS white dial. I've been told that Rolex started producing more SS and less TT because of their popularity, and economic times. I guess they figure when the economy is hurting it makes more sense to produce more of the one everyone wants. Also, I think a lot of people have had to part with them to free up some cash.

for a time being, yes this is true that rolex for a second started producing alittle more SS daytona's, but according to the rolex rep i spoke with when i saw him at my local ad speaking with one of the sales guy's about that being the sales guy asked as he needed a SS daytona, i walked over to the both of them and asked him if it is true that rolex is cutting back on SS daytonas, he confirmed it, but he said now rolex's doesn't like seeing so many on the market and grey market above retail, so they are back down to the original production numbers... he told me from here on out, they will be hard to find again, which they still are, but he said it will be worse, rolex sent out the last bach of V seriels and don't expect any more till next year. he simply said rolex cut them off to stop the supply and raise demand... so it doesnt look like the sales guy will be seeing another V seriel being they already received 2 and sold them off./.

But we all know store reps have no idea how many Daytonas are produced, more or less than any number no one knows..my guess is they didn't do anything and is as valid as the sales person a the AD just a guess..

the rep never claimed he knew the production figures, knew he didnt have any more to send and wont have any more to send any time soon

It is my least favorite Rolex... so i doubt i'll ever buy one. But i have to admit it is a very nice watch.
