SD still available in AD's in USA?

Hi,

Just heard from someone on the forum that the classic SD can still be bought brand new at AD's in Arizona.

Here in the UK these have sold out almost a year ago and BNIB V-Serial command a 25% premium at least.

I am in Florida next month, and if the USA has these BNIB sitting around AD's I may be tempted to buy one and bring it back.

Anyone in Florida know if these are for sale at AD's?

I am really shocked that ANY AD's still have these...or is it maybe only in areas that have been hit badly by recession etc?

I know it's not UK or USA, but the Hungarian Rolex AD (LBS) has a NOS SD in the display window in Budapest. Price is GBP 4200 incl. 25% VAT. It may worth a trip from UK to Budapest, but of course before you take off, make sure to call the AD to verify the availability, condition and price of their SD.

I dont think you can get anymore of them shipped from the distribution centers. The LV's are all gone as well from what I heard.

No, but im amazed that ADs in the USA cannot shift these. Like I say these go for big premiums here in the UK as every sports watch gets sold pretty fast...they dont sit in ADs windows for long.

I saw about 15 in total last week in Gothenburg, Frankfurt and Geneva. In fact, there wasn't a single AD that didn't have at least one.

WOW....as I said the UK is totally out of them, and has been for a long time!
Just differences in countries I guess.

At the ADs I know in Fl there are no new SDs for sale. There are new LVs for sale still. I saw two this weekend but expect to pay full list.

Nairn, the only reason I can think of is that there are still people in this world that buy the watch they love. Most around these parts don't buy a watch so they can squeek a few bucks out of the next guy.

While I agree that buying a NIB 7 year old watch would need service even before the plastics are peeled off, did you happen to notice if the Y serial SD had lug holes? If it did, it could be in high demand - a NOS sea-dweller with lug-holes would certainly attract a crowd.

Jason, I looked -- no lug holes on the Y! I had to look at the tag twice to make sure it wasn't a V. As they say, your eyesight is one of the first things that starts to go when you get older. If it was a V, I would have been interested.

Brand new SDs are a thing of the past as far as ADs in Singapore are concerned. Before they all sold out several months ago, ADs were charging a slight premium, though not as high as 25%.

Grey dealers still have stock but the premiums vary depending on the series.

There have been several reports in-forum of V SDs in the Uk in the last few months. And anyone paying a premium price for a watch thats has changed so little in 22 years of production. Except for a case date stamp, IMHO must be sixpence short of a shilling.

My Ad who I help out on the weekends every once in awhile, sold out around the time the Deep Sea came out. The few days I'm there every month- we are always gettin inquiries for the Seadweller. From all over the country too.. so just judging from that- it's hard to beleive anyone still has some unsold, but I guess some areas are just hidden away or slow.
