Receipt required for Warranty service?
Hi, I recently purchased my first Rolex, a 16610 Submariner, from a grey market dealer who I trust (a reputable jeweler who is also a brother of a friend). I am very happy with it. I received all the packaging, plus the plastic warranty card with the original AD's name (not the name of the actual jeweler who sold it to me though) printed on it. The day I bought it, we filled out my name and the date of purchase.
If I need servicing however, is it enough to submit the watch with the warranty card? Or, would I need an original receipt from the AD (which obviously I don' t have)? In particular, how is the RSC in New York as far as those things? |

Everybody will have a different experience, but it's like Larry said -- it's on a case by case basis. They may ask for a copy of a receipt from the AD whose name is on the card or they may not. Your best shot would be to have it go throught a local AD to get service at RSC, they will send the watch ii with the card and RSC will probably not ask for the receipt.

I have had three services (at a RSC) in the US. None required anything but the watches. One of the watches was even bought in Germany. If they need to 'verify' anything, I am sure they can and will do it without any paperwork.

The jewelry store I frequent was an AD until dropping the Rolex brand a couple of years ago. The same watchmakers still work there, so I bring my watches to them for service. No hassles, no complaints, no worries about finicky RSC rules.

Again...
I believe Rolex is playing a card they don't have.
The warranty card filled out with a dealer stamp and your name IS all it takes to get warranty. It is filled out and stamped as required. If I have a correct warranty card they CAN NOT require a invoice or deny service If that happened to me there are only 2 possibilities : - The watch is repaired under warranty - S.W.A.T. would have to take me out of the building. When I went to a RSC in 2008 with a M-series 116200 DJ to be regulated I didn't even have a warranty card on me, the counterlady was talking crap about the possible age but with the manager aside I explained the serial number to her and the watchmaker was called and the watch regulated within 30 minutes. How many people get a 25 year anniversary gold watch with all papers and no invoice, I think all of these are given without the invoice. From now on I'll have my warranty cards with my name on it in Chinese or Arabic...., read that you dumb sales girl!! Jack |
