My opinion,
If people saw a 19 YO with a Gold Rolex, they would make one of two assumptions about you:
1 - Your a drug dealer
2 - Your a spoiled rich kid.
Move ahead a few years, it may go un-noticed.
You do look older than 19, so you might pull it off.
Plus it depends where you wear it.

I think the test is whether you can buy it yourself with your own money. If so, then you are old enough, even if you are 19, or younger.

However, if you are younger than 30, I imagine that most people will assume you were given the watch as a gift by your parents, etc., or will assume it is likely a Folex.

If it were me, I'd buy the Platinum daydate. Unlike the yellow gold daydate, most people will just assume its merely a really shiny SS watch.

The watch i feel weird the most wearing is the oysterquartz
because a lot of people are ignorant to the fact rolex made quartz
so of course everyone thinks its a cheap jap fake
i felt good wearing the sub pete
but you are right, you and i are young guys (close in age)
everyone who meets us must think we have fake watches!
how is the sub pete, and more importantly the new house?

I don't think age should matter, if you can appreciate it and afford one, by all means go for it. Its only getting more expensive later down the road.

I wasn't given a rolex growing up, but I can wear any of my dad's watch since 16 and back when I was younger, I didn't like the DD or DJ too much.

Its not until I am in college I bought my first datejust with my own money (lose the watch to a friend in a poker game later, long story but we go back and fourth and we honor our bets, by now I think me and him are more or less even, we bet on anything.)

Anyway, for the money I would go with something else. As I pretty much got most of the feature I like in a DJ already. I personally would go for a YG GMT II with ceramic bezel over a DD at the moment.

btw, I am 28 years old, but different from most of the 28 yo you might know, I am semi retired.

It doesn't matter how old you are as long as you can afford it and appreciate it.

It's not how old you are or what others think. I'm not out to impress anyone only to celebrate my success and enjoy what makes me happy! right now I'm in love with Rolex, Harley-Davidson, and my wife! Disclaimer: Not necessarily in that order!

When I got my first Rolex, many years ago, the sales lady told me she had sold the All Gold Pres to a young fellow. He had worn it for a short time, then ended up getting a watch winder for it, and Picked up a simpler looking one to wear.
"He didn't feel right wearing it" was what she told me.

Interests in "yachts" is not something a kid has.

If you follow the stereotype, at 19 you like girls, cars, and drinking, and can do it all in one night.

At 25 you should have settled into a path you wish for a career and a family.

At 30 you should start seeing the fruits of your labors like a house or 2nd car.

At 40 (or in your 40s) you should be well along your goals and still be able to get up in the morning and still have the bed creak louder than your bones (right JJ?). With that in mind, these watches would appear to tell me these folks are a success at their respective ages:

19 -Air King, SS DJ, SS GMT, Sub no date
25 -SD, LV, SS Daytona
30 -TT DJ, TOG
40 -YM, TT Sub, TT GMT
50 -President in YG or Plat., YG Daytona

The again this is just MY view. If you had a Pres. and you earned it through your hard work, you could never convince me of it without a secondary piece of information like your car, clothes, or number of sheep in your pasture.

But as long as you feel that you earned it and you paid cash for it, go for it! We will be happy to hear your success stories!

Act like a spoilt rich kid and don't care what they think. If you like it, grab it. It's not there business which watch YOU wear. If you have worked hard to earn the money then it is nobody else's business.

Bought my YG DD at age 34, my dream watch!

Funny thing - my SS DRSD cost me more.

I think I've earned it since I had worked for 21 years already (of course some of it was part-time).

No parent support since they passed away, one when I was 5, and the other at 26 (no pity please).

When my mates were playing, getting drunk and stoned or merely watching TV, I was working my a$$ off. The funny thing is, is that they say how lucky I am.

Well, at 39, I too am semi-retired.

I would get one. I love the presidential line of rolex's. Once I finish grad school, I am considering getting one (or a solid gold Submariner).

As long as you like it, I don't see what difference age makes. Having said that, my feeling is that it's more of an "old man's watch" than something for younger people. I'm over 40, and would still not wear one.....but that's just my taste.

I saw a young dude in his twenties wearing a gold DD and buying a brandnew $200,000 Aston Martin DB9 when me and my son was checking out a Ferrari...To me there's nothing wrong with that. Cool car though.
