If it was your first rolex purchase. Which would you get? A SD or a GMT? Vote now!

If for some reason Rolex maxi dials and BIG cases the SS GMT, the current model will one day be pretty desireable. I actually like the size of the current SS GMT over the TT and Gold Anniversary specials.

I have a harder time with these as I don't know who the new buyer is...

However... the SD is my fave Rolex.

A friend of mine is interested in either or. He doesnt want a sub because his boss wears one. So he asked me for advice. I wanna see whats more popular!

well.. if he doesn't want a sub, because his boss wears one... shouldn't he be looking at the GMT? Because wearing the SD, people might still mistook it for the same watch....

Since I don't really need the timezone and prefer the TRIPLOCK crown and longer clasp, I voted SD!!

These were the very two I was undecided on. I opted for the GMT because I actually do need the extra time zone, and the SD was just a tad too big on my wrist.

Little did I know I would buy a second GMT, this time a TT, only a few months later.

If he dives, get the SD. If he travels internationally, or has relatives living overseas get the GMT.

You have to ask yourself the question what you'll use the watch for. Do you travel a lot or need to be mindful of another time zone? If so, I would go for the GMT.

If you need extra ruggedness, dive a lot or just being a desk diver, and prefer a clean look sans the cyclops, then the SD is the watch for you.

I don't think it matters whether the boss has one or not. What are you gonna do if your grail watch was the sub, and someone else that you know has it? Will you let that stop you?

I definetly agree, but my friend asked me this question. Thats why i passed it along to you guys to see the popularity betweent he two. I told him to go for a SUB! Were all tied up, whose gonna win!

I have both, bought the GMT 10 years ago 2nd hand because I couldn't afford the sd. Last year finally got the sd, my grail and hence it gets my vote. Having said that I will never part with the GMT, love it to bits and wear it when ever I travel overseas.

My next Rolex will be the new ss GMT when it comes out, best of both worlds.

i went for the SD- however i cant wait for the new SS GMT when/if it ever surfaces, never been a fan of GMTs whereas subs and SDs i think look nicer(i love the minute marker on the bezel with the lume....

but there is something about the new GMTs that i love- mainly the ceramic bezel but laso the whole new look

For me there's no question it would be the GMT. The SD is too plain and bulky for my taste. The red 4th hand, black bezel and cyclops make the GMT the best.
