Hey Conan, quit your whining. Please!

If I hear Conan O'Brien whine one more time about how poorly he was treated by NBC and Jay Leno, I'm going to be sick. Come on Conan, NBC gave you 30 million dollars to go away. Your ratings were in the toilet as the host of The Tonight Show, and if I was Leno, I wouldn't talk to you either. Get over it. No one feels sorry for you. QUIT WHINING!

His interview on 60 Minutes last evening was actually pathetic. He (and his wife) sat forlornly and recited yet again how he had been wronged, and he looks like he expects sympathy for his circumstances. I'm sure most of us could find a way to move on with our 30 million.

That's true enough . . . for most of us that is. But Conan has been entertaining for years and already brings to the table multimillionaire status. I don't think this is at all about money (at least primarily for Conan). He was usurped from a show doing relatively well (if it hadn't done well he would not have been offered an earlier timespot). The new show didn't fare well and now he will soon be gone from the public eye, a virtual kiss of death for an entertainer. While I'm not excusing his whining, he has some valid points. Recall the treatment Letterman got from NBC when they chose Leno as Carson's successor. Again, I'm not condoning the way in which Conan has dealt with this situation, but I do understand why he's unhappy.

Conan is hilarious.

Conan's demographics are younger and Leno's are older. I think NBC made a mistake in the long run.

I actually don't watch any of the late night shows, and I live in the Central time zone. I don't understand how those of you on the East Coast can stay up until 11:35 to watch them.

The ability to stay up night after night to view these "late shows" is a prerequisite to obtaining East Coast citizenship.

OK guys, lets take a second to see what happened here. The execs at NBC basically fired Jay Leno. Leno, which lowered himself in my opinion, took a 10 pm prime time slot. He took all the grade A celebrities first and had Conan competing with Letterman using 2nd grade celebrities. And, when Leno was done interviewing the A listers, then Conan had to interview the same guest on the same network.

Furthermore, Conan always said that it was going to be a huge step for him to take over that show. He conducted himself with humbleness and class.

Leno, as a snake in the grass, went crawling back to his original slot.

Lets, get one thing straight. I used to love Jay Leno. I rarely missed his show. When he got fired (and lets face it he WAS fired from the tonight show), the right thing to do was to leave the network. Not degrade himself the way he did.

And Conan is only upset at the way they treated him. He himself said that he would love the opportunity, but thought he was still a little green. The fact is that Conan's audience are people in the college age groups. And his week point is the 35- 54 segment. The same group of people that watch the 11:30 slot.

Yes, he received millions. But he is only upset because he was happy and content at his 12:30 slot and they "talked him into" taking the 11:30. They didn't tell him the he would be interviewing the same guest that he was at 1 am. You can't take a knife to a gun fight.

Cut the guy some slack. He was betrayed by the executives and by who he thought was a friend in Leno.

I remember watching Conan when he first debuted. It was completely boring and almost embarrasingly not funny. I actually cringed for him. I could not believe they let him stay on the television. Tuned in a few years later, and I felt the same way. Tuned in a few years after that and felt the same way.

Many folks disagree with my belief, and I respect their opinions. Humor, as with most things, is subjective. But I honestly find him to be one of the most non-funny individuals I have ever seen on T.V.--sad because he seems like a very nice person of strong character (of course, I could be wrong on this account, too).

Never cared much for Leno, maybe because I loved Carson so much. Dave was my favorite for many years when he was more zany than political. Even though Letterman and I share many of the same ideologies when I watch late night TV I don't want politics- even if I agree with it. What I want to see is someone dropping stuff off the top of the building, I want to see stunts like the giant velcro suit.

Coco took the reigns where Dave left off and while I didn't laugh at every gag I sure liked Conan better than Leno. That said, I watched the interview and thought that O'Brien looked a bit needy and pathetic- I know the deal was raw but 30mil is a hell of a bandaid!
