I'm going to break the trend and say "YES"!

I love the convenience of my Orbitas.

I'd like to qualify by saying that winders are not a necessity, but rather a matter of convenience. Absolutely nothing wrong with letting your watch wind down. I just happen to enjoy not having to set my watch every time I pick one up.

I love my Orbita too. I would get one if money is no object. However, if you're on a budget, I would save for something else.

I'll agree with sakuraba. Not a necessity but certainly a convenience. I find myself changing watches daily based on what I'm wearing and it is nice to not dink around with setting them, changing dates etc.

But you can go over the top on the winders too. DON'T! Get an inexpensive one that will do the job and THEN put the difference towards another watch.

Here's the one the wife got me for Christmas. 4 watches, adjustable speeds, nice presentation.

I have pretty small wrists - 6.5" to be precise. As a result, my watches with bracelets don't fit on most pillows with a hard edge.

Do you think the watches will hold to the winder pillows on this Brookstone device - or not???

BTW, $200 is not bad...as long as the device does not conk out. I notice Brookstone offers "protection plans" with purchase...

Mine are 6.75, so you'd probably be okay. But here's a little trick...

Sitting just under the right end of the winder is a poker chip. The Wolf winder on the right came with my Raymond Weil Nabucco and the pillow system sucks, so I slip the poker chip between the caseback and the pillow to take up the extra space...

I'm in for a Yes... It's not neccessary, but for me way more comftable to just take one of the watches with the right time and date on it at the morning :)

So you don't close the bracelets...but leave them open / jam the poker chip in between the pillow & bracelet?

No. I close the bracelets, but if you find that the bracelet, as it is adjusted for your wrist size, is a bit too big for the pillow...then you can slide the poker chip in to take up the slack. But honestly, those pillows will probably be fine for you. I have no problem with a bracelet adjusted to my 6.75" wrist fitting on the Brookstone unit's pillows. Your bracelets, sized for a smaller wrist, should be fine. The Wolf Design one is where I have problems...

Yes. I find setting and winding a watch is a pain. I like being able to put on a watch without any wait time.

In my humble opinion, YES!

I worry about messing with the watch too much by winding it. (get oil, water, dirt and debris in it).<----I dont trust myself

Get a nice home for the watch. Keep it working because you never know when u need it on!!!

I woke up today for the first time with my Sub not set, didnt wear it for a few days so i know what the posters mean about not wanting to set it all the time. I guess getting a winder would depend on future watch purchases and the cost of the winder...

a winder was the first thing i did when i picked up my 2nd automatic watch. if its a simple watch without a date, maybe it isnt really necessary but when you start adding stuff and as the number of watches increases, its nice to pick up any watch you wish to wear without setting it. nice for the convenience

I have a routine when I am at home.....I bath the kids each night.....while they are splashing about I go to the safe, take out my watch box and wind each watch a good 30 or so turns....I like to look at them and hold them.....the process takes all of ten minutes and then I play with the kids......I have to be honest, the watch winder in my opinion would deprive me of my daily contact with them all.....when I am away at work (I work 4 weeks away followed by 4 weeks at home on leave) I only have one watch with me.....all the rest remain in the safe, they all stop of course....but do you know what, I actually look forward to re-setting them all when I get back....like a "hello guys" type of thing.....I will never buy a winder.....but that's just me....
