ALMOST traded my SS Daytona for AG!!!!

So, here is the situation. I'm on a rental car bus going from the airport to the pick up place. In front of me is an elderly gentleman wearing a WG Daytona, beautiful watch. I strike up a conversation, compliment him on his watch or something and he is very friendly. He states: "Yeah, I love the Daytona, but this thing is so dammed heavy, I wish I had gotten the lighter one, but they didn't have any available a couple years ago." I am assuming he means the SS so I take mine off and hand it to him.

"Wow!" He exclaims, "This thing is so light, it's perfect!"

"Well" I say, "If you'd like to trade you're welcome to it"

Of course I was kidding, but the guy looks at me.

"Really? Hmmmm.." And he looks my watch over and over, like he was REALLY CONSIDERING IT!!!!! I got the impression that money was not a factor to this gentleman, he was obviously well to do and was more interested in getting what he wanted then how much it would cost.

He looked over my watch very intently, put it on his wrist and kept commenting on how perfect the weight was, I really think he was considering it! At the same time, I was wearing his WG, Yes, it was real, and it was a beauty!!!!!

The bus stops at a rental place and he quickly looks up. "Oh, this is my stop, I have to run, have a good day!" And he huridly takes mine off and hands it back to me.... I reluctantly did the same with his as he ran off the bus.

WHY can't those Damm Rental car busses go SLOWER!!!!!

Wow Paul, that's an interesting story! You're brave to have handed your watch to him. Not sure I would have done the same. Which dial did his Daytona have?

That's a funny story. And I am impressed that both you and he handed over your watches. I never do.

Interesting story, Paul. Did you check your watch and make sure he didn't give you back a fake one.

Maybe he didn't want to do the deal because he wasn't sure that the SS of Paul was real

Great story, Paul!

But, seriously, how old was this guy for YOU to call him elderly?

Now LISTEN Doug! Just because I'm middle aged doesn't mean I'm OLD! People say things like memory is the first thing to go... and I'll tell you another thing! Just because I'm middle aged doesn't mean I'm OLD! What was it that people say is the first thing to go?

About half-way through, I started readed this story with one eye closed, waiting for the part about how the "nice old man" took off with the watch....

I wouldn't do that deal unless I was sitting at an AD and both watches were certified as legit. Of course at that point you might be bidding against the AD for the gold watch!

Sorry Paul, I was the driver of that bus, I was in a hurry to pick up my WG Daytona from my AD.

One of the guys in my AD had on a pretty good fake WG Daytona the other day.... either that..or as has been said the guy was just humoring you!

Great story though Paul.

Now keep that SS on your wrist

You never know...It sounds like a good scenario for a scam. Old guy with watch he doesn't want spends all day on a bus (free) of course looking for unsuspecting marks to trade his fake (too heavy for me ) Daytona. I'll bet if you were wearing a DJ he would have considered a trade as well...Be careful my friend, be very careful.
