Hello,

I wear my TT Sub C only two days out of the week.
Should I be manually winding it every few days or can I just let it stop and set the time/date come the weekend?
Or, do I need to buy a winder?

Any input is appreciated.

I have searched the forums and it seems people on here are split about winders.

I'm just not sure if I will somehow damage the watch by letting it stop four times a month.

The watch will be absolutely fine left to run down. If you're wearing it a couple of days a week anyway, then there'll be no problems with regards to lubricants - they'll still be moving about nicely. I'd keep hold of the couple of hundred pounds needed to buy a watch winder, especially for the sake of 30 seconds of setting up a watch every now and then

I leave watches way longer than that...and I enjoy re-setting them when it's their turn to come out

I have used a Orbita winder for the last 12 years and my serti Sub has never been serviced and keeps the same +3 a day now as it did new. The watch was either on my wrist or a winder. Do I think the winder is good for my Rolex?......Absolutely. Get a good winder. Whats another $300 for security and longevity of a $6k watch?

Being the resident cheap skate here...

Why not take a minute or so each day to wind her up? It'll allow you to appreciate the GMT even more and also save you money!

Need? No.
Does it make life easier when you rotate between several choices? Yes.

For the convenience of it, I prefer the winder but from what I have learned (mostly on here) there is no damage by letting it run down between wrist visits.

I just hate setting the watch after a few days...and, I often only realize it's not accurate or running when I am five minutes late for a meeting! lol

Well again, I guess I am in the minority here, I use a winder and love it. Nothing crazy, It is a triple winder and ran about $500. I just like the idea of being able to grab the watch I want and go... Guess I am just lazy

There is an orbita I have seen that winds multiple watches and runs on a battery that is supposed to last 5 years... no plugs. I dont keep mine in a safe so not an issue for me.

Most all good winders are built for long term safe storage. They have a backup battery that runs when you dont have ac power. Winders are far from a gimmick. They have been around for a long time and most all serious collectors use them. Some even have 30-50 built in winders that fill a entire wall for their collection. Watch winder is to a watch collector like a humidor to a cigar aficionado.

My Orbitas fit nicely in my safe. Both are battery operated, and with regular alkaline I usually replace every 6-8 months.

Concur, you do not need a winder. I manual wind PAM every day and find it to be a nice ritual.

I do like my watchwinder; happily spinning away; however, it is only for convenience. Used to own a JLC Reveil that did not have a quick set date, now setting that was a pain.

I have a 3/8" diameter hole in my safe that I was able to remove the 110V plug, fish line through, and reinstall plug. Had 110V outlet put in the closet specific for this purpose.

Put the winder on your birthday wish list. Let someone else buy it for you since they probably won't "chip in" to your next Rolex fund.

I have a quad winder my wife got me for X-mas. I probably wouldn't have bought it for myself, but she never knows what to get me. She enjoyed giving it, I enjoyed receiving it, and my watches are always good to go!

no winders. that would be boring. and winding once a week is no problem. i think you can even go once every 6 months but that wouldnt be advisable
