Thailand Vacation

Just got back last nite from a 6 day getaway to Thailand. We went to the island of Koh Samed. Very quiet and not a whole lot going on except beach, emerald green water and 30C and sunny everyday. We had a fantastic time and got a chance to test to depth rating of my SD......got it down to 10ft and it held up just as advertised . No leaks...money well spent
That deserves a beer on deck to celebrate and then a well deserved rest on the beach afterwards.

Maybe next time I will push the limits and go to 12 ft......

I recommend it if you want peace and quiet. They are other places in Thailand if you want more action, Phuket, Koh Samui.

But Koh Samet is very quiet and fantastic for couples.

And you are right, the pictures cannot show the beauty of the place.
If you ever decide to go, let m eknow and I can give you some more info on where we stayed etc.....

Welcome back larry. You didn't tried their local beer? "Chang" is pretty good even when comparing to imports.

Oh yeah..I downed a few of those but this is all they had on the boat. Singha is another great local brew.

The new airport is nice, but it is a pain to get around in there. Very big and lots of high end stores.
Anybody going there remember that there is a 500 bhat ($14 USD) departure tax per person. Got me by surprise... times 4 for the family. Not alot but save some bhat for when you leave.

The shirt is Fruit of the Loom...

I'm totally envious, a GMT, an SD, and a trip to Thailand.

Sure beats my trip to the grocery store.

Let me know when you come over.
HK is an hour away by Jetfoil, and any reason to go over is a good one.

I will be in Shanghai at the end of this month for 2 days.
On the 19th I will be in Malaysia for 2 days and then down to Australia for 4 days. Looking forward to it.

Out of curiousity, do you have to go thru regular customs or you can go thru the crew lane at the customs?

New year is the 18th of this month by the way.

I have walked thru that PVG custom without any trouble plenty of times, Immigration line sucks thought when you disembark from a commercial flight.
