Daytona or DSSD?

I know, I know I have to decide for myself. I have never caught the Daytona fever until recently and with the prices down a bit it seems as of it is not a bad time to buy... The only problem is I have bought so many watches this year, I cannot justify purchasing another outright... To fund this purchase I would have to sell my DSSD... What do you guys think?

It seems that whenever I sell something I want it again (LV, Sea Dweller), I am sure you know the feeling. So the question is, wait awhile, keep the DSSD and buy the Daytona outright? Or sell DSSD and get the Daytona now?

I love the DSSD and have tried to convince myself a million times that I love it but I wear my sub 80% of the time due to the comfort factor... Just a little background.

Thanks guys, let me know what you think

The DSSD purchase is fairly recent, right? And, while you love it, you don't wear it much, right? My suggestion, since you haven't been lusting after the Daytona, would be to give the DSSD a little time to grow on you (no pun intended).

To be fair, though, I'm not a flipper, so, if flipping doesn't bother you, maybe you should just go for it. You'd have a fairly well-rounded collection (Sub, GMT II, Daytona).

I agree...I think you should wear the DSSD for a week..and not take it off even if you feel compelled to..then see how you feel. Give it a chance

I would give the DSSD some time. It's a more substanitial watch...all IMO of course. Plus you could possibly take a hit flipping it.

Well this is all that I have been thinking too... I have had the DSSD for over a year now just so you know. I am torn on this one here so I think I will wear a bit more and go from there.

I cannot wear for a week however because it does not confortably fit under sleeve

Seems you have the Daytona bug! You're right....strike while the iron's hot.
The DSSD is a beautiful watch, but if you don't find enjoyment in it, no reason to keep it around.
As mentioned previously, acquiring the Daytona would certainly round-off your collection.
Good Luck!

The Daytona will definitely wear A LOT smaller than the DSSD. If you wear cuffs to work, it would definitely fit under them without a problem. I would go to an AD and try on a Daytona, even if its not a SS (if that's what you want), and get a feel for the size. It seems like people have problems with the size of both watches, but for obviously the opposite reasons. My guess is, if you are already wearing a sub daily, the Daytona will be a perfect fit.

Adam 95% of the times when you trade or sell a watch in a short period of time you are loosing a little of $$$ unless you bought it at a super deal...
You and I know that the Deepsea is a Great watch but sure not an everyday watch... If you have the Chance to get out of the DS for what you paid for it or very close I will sell it and get the Daytona, and if no luck doing that I would wait and enjoy it for now and see what will happen

Personally I'd keep the DSSD! The Daytona just doesn't do it for me in the SS options. Some of the WG dials are incredible but in your case I'd hold on the the big boy!

You're saying you never caught the daytona bug until recently so I'd wait till you can buy it outright.. if you still want it then - then you know! if not you've got some sweet $$ to pick another model up instead!

DAYTONA is easier to wear , do you need the chrono? since its harder to read the sub dials and slightly less to tell the time at quick glance.

Its a completely two different style of watches, which one will fit your life style better?

The Daytona is a lot of money, nice/classic watch though.

I've got a crazy suggestion: flip the GMT II coke + the DSSD and then get yourself a 16600 SD and a GMT IIC instead! :-)

Thanks guys for all the imput. I think I will keep the Dssd and get some more $$$ together and then decide what I want to do.

I dont like the idea of trading anyway.

Keep the DSSD and save for the Daytona!!
I have a feeling you WILL regret selling it if you go that route.....

I was so HOT for the Daytona. Tried several on in Japan a couple months ago.

Now, I am off them. I don't think prices have "come down" per se... Maybe I will want one again at some point, but now I am thinking of a GMTIIC and a Stainless Datejust - circa 80's or so. Go figure!

So I vote - keep the DSSD

I used to be a hardcore Daytona fan.
When i was finally able to purchase my first Rolex, i ended up buying the DSSD...

And still enjoying every minute of it.
