DJ Sodalite Serti or Submariner?

Hi all, new the the forums from Kentucky but a long time Rolex lover. I've only had a few and for fleeting times in my life. Traded one in for the (ex) wife a new car, sold one to make end's meet, etc but finally back on my feet and able to reach my lifetime goal of being a Rolex owner. I've had a MOP TT Datejust with gold roman numerals and the oyster band (that one was gorgeous), an older DJ TT with jubilee and the blue vignette dial (my first Rolex), had the wife a white TT DJ with the gold roman numerals and a white porcelain dial, and just recently traded off an older BMW for a TT Daytona, which left me where I am now. For the record, I loved the Daytona but it was too much watch for me. I appreciated the weight behind this model though!

I have the choice between a 2003 blue face TT Submariner or a 2004 SS DJ jubliee band with the sodalite serti dial. Both are in 9/10 shape, have all paperwork, and come from a reputable dealer. You all are the experts, which one is a better investment? Which is more collectable? Which is more desirable? The price is the same on both watches. I am wearing the sodalite now but it just feels light and doesn't have the heft of the past TT's I've owned. I've read how popular the blue face Sub is so I am leaning towards sending the Sodalite back and grabbing the Sub. This may be a no brainer to a Rolex fan, so please educate me!

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I guess the big question is which watch is valued higher? I've searched a few old threads and it looks like the sodalite is a few grand less than the Sub. I want to end up with the watch with the highest value.

On Ebay the prices seem within a few hundred of each other but those are all dealer prices, and we know how inflated those can be!

I had the sodalite DJ, I loved it. I had to change to the oyster bracelet the jubilee always felt a bit tin like. In the end I flipped it, just couldn't llive with the fluted bezel in white gold, the tone didn't match the rest of the watch.
Anyway to get back to your question, Id take the sub, far more versitile. Best of luck.

Forget "investment value" and go for the one you REALLY like! IMO, the sodalite dial DJ is one sweet unique watch. And, for me, unique is important!

Sigh the blue face sub is one I've always wanted to have so I am leaning heavily towards it. The DJ feels too light, I like the heavy duty feel of the thicker watches.

I'd got for the blue sub..
Even though it is TT, I feel it is more versatile (to me, diamonds don't really go with casual clothing!)

I'm lucky enough to have a reseller that is letting me try the sodalite but will swap even for the TT blue face sub if the DJ doesn't win me over. I am a diamond fan but I agree that they don't go with casual attire, which is what I wear 99% of the time. Gotta love that big blue and yellow Sub for making a statement.

I did like the Daytona but in my job it's just too much watch for a daily wear. I actually swapped it for this choice and cash back, which made my bank account a much happier place.

You said it yourself, the DJ does not have the heft of the Sub.

Plus I am NOT a fan of jewels on dials, not-not-not.
