Submariner LV

At my AD this evening I have first dibs on the Kermit Sub at $5525. Hmmm I checked it out and it is actually very nice! Carol says it matches my eyes.

So I am tempted but wonder about the rarity and all that... I can decide later and check in tomorrow morning.

Just got one. You should get one, be a good daily wear watch with your uniform, especially with a Nato.

Go with your dream watch, Robert. Pay a little more and buy the TT YM white dial you love so much.

But the Sub is thicker than your SS GMT. I take it you are really liking the Maxi Dial of your TT GMT?

I like the LV too.

But do not buy it for rarity, it is not like a SS daytona or anything.

And it does not look like they will stop making them.

At one point they were rare, not so much now. Have seen a few in the case at list.

Hey Robert,

I'm sure you're aware of this, but just for your information, the LV Sub case is IDENTICAL to the SS Sub-date (16610) one.

Cheers - JJ

I wouldn't call it rare since LV is still a production watch. Rolex has not formally stated when production will end. I have one and love it. Buy one if you love it - not because of anything else.

If it caught you thinking about it in the middel of the night, sounds like LoVe to me...

The LV is a doll...

JJ and Kakalika, yes the subs are similar in thickness, the TT GMT is very thick in comparison. Makes me feel that the TT GMT ought to be rated to SD depth. I put them side by side, hmm maybe I can get a picture if it has not sold yet.

Oh as I was on the list for a Daytona, I was really on for the next specialty watch, which is the LV. The apologized and will keep me in mind for the Daytona too.

You're right actually.. unless the new movement takes up more room... meaning the case walls aren't as thick. The helium escape valve is only useful in sat diving situations... so I can't see why it wouldn't be... Is gold more reactive to high pressure due to it's softness relative to SS?

Which may be a wrong assumption as well seeing that we're taking about a TT watch, so the case should be SS. Where as the only gold should be the bezel, crown and center links (bracelet).

Robert,
Get it, and get it quick. I bought mine on vactation from an AD. I jumped at the chance and I am not sorry I did. If you change your mind later, you will have no trouble selling it. Just my two cents worth.

I wouldn't worry about the rarity of it Robert. They seem to be popping up a bit more than in the past now.

Get it if it smiles at you

All the Rolexes smile at me. I think the entire AD staff has standing orders to smile at me.

So have you made a descision on the "Kermit" yet?

My AD just told me last night that he'll get one in once in a while, but he still doesn't think that they are in full production-but he could be wrong.

So Robert, as Christie Brinkley said to Chevy Chase in Family Vacation, "Are you gonna 'Go for it'?"

Well, since you already have a TT GMT, if you flipped your SS GMT and bought the Sub LV, you would have 2 with the maxi. One for travel/dress and one for diving/sport/adventure.

Due to a BAD ATTITUDE from one and now TWO of the salesmen at my AD, I have decided to return my Submariner LV, unopened. I do not want to look at it and be reminded of someone else's grumpy attitude and lousy day.

Today I went shopping and saw the LV in a used jewelry store for $6550. I did see some YMs and others as well, but was drawn to the LV. I called my AD, the LV there was still in stock, and for the street price. I went over and got it.

Sorry no pics, it is going to my California address to help save me a little sales tax. I'll pick it up when I am there next month.

Another saga ended with great results!
