Things to look for... Submariner

Hi folks...

I've enjoyed reading your posts the last few weeks, so thought I'd try to gleen a little more wisdom from you all.

I'm in the market for my first Rolex, a 16610 to exact. (or at least, I think)

Planning to buy used, just because it fits my budget best, and I plan to wear it daily in my outdoors business... so I figure it wouldn't be pristine after a few months of me wearing it anyway.

Wondering if you guys could point out some different details of different Submariners that I might not understand or be familiar with..

As of now, I'm sold on trying to get one without the holes on the case... so I think that means 2003 or newer, right?

Also open to recommendations on dealers... in the past, I've pulled the trigger on many things off of ebay, and there seems to be handful of reputable dealers there... wouldn't do a $4k deal with an unknown guy across the country though.

I welcome your thoughts... thanks again.... Steve

It was around 2002 end of Y series early 2003 the non lugs holes started to make there appearence on most models. The 16610 sub has changed very little since 1988,we now have the SEL bracelet, the LEC laser etched crystal and a few minor font details and thats it apart from the different case stamps.Have a look in our in forum for-sale some great trusted sellers there.

Matt, since you are new here, with only a few posts, it would be best to let us use our trusted seller members here on TRF and a feedback system that works well. They have excellent feedback from others and it shows on TRF.

David, Steve, Paul, Oscar and Greg are top notch buyers and have feedback to prove it.

I do not want to run down outsiders, however we do not want to get burnt buying a fake watch and these sellers plus others have a real good track record of not screwing anyone.

Understood and thanks. The man asked a question and I provided a reference to one I have dealt with. If that was against forum rules I apologize. But I can say the gentleman I bought from has 100% positive feedback on Ebay with a huge number of references to back up his honesty. I agree we shouldn't point a fellow site member to just anyone though. I realize I have very little feedback but on many other sites of which I have been a member for years, I have thousands of posts and hundreds of online transaction positives. I hope to be an active member of this forum too, just give me time.
