Visit To The AD
Today i was bored, so i decided to pay a visit to my local AD here in Toronto. I have a few watches that are on my hit list all in stainless steel.
1) Daytona White/Black Dial 2) DJ II White/Black Dial 3) GMT IIC 4) Exp II White/Black Dial They had all of the above watches in stock and I was able to try them all on. Wow let me tell you that I was really impressed with the white dial Daytona. Absolutely gorgeous and definitely nicer than the black dial. IMHO. Than I tried on the DJ II with black dial. Was also impressed with the DJ II, but would have preferred to see it in the white dial as well just to compare. I loved the size and the fluted bezel with oyster bracelet, looks amazingly beautiful. Next was the GMT IIC. I actually liked it more than the Exp II. From looking at pictures, I thought the numbers around the bezel would look too big and in your face, but they weren't. Also wasn't sure on the larger (wider) lugs, but found them to be ok as well. Watch was very balanced and felt nice on the wrist. After comparing it to the Exp II with white/black dial, I would most definitely buy the GMT IIC over the Exp II, even though I used to own the Exp II with black dial. Just feels like much more of a watch. After I finished the sales rep indicates that the white dial Daytona was available to purchase if I was interested (that surprised me considering there are waiting lists everywhere else). Price tag $11,520 CDN plus 13% tax which would bring it to $13,017.60. Just crazy!!! He did mention, thanks to the massive construction taking place outside the front door, that they were offering 22% discount on all of the Rolex watches (except the Daytona of course). Not bad considering this is a huge Rolex retailer in the downtown core. It pays to visit the AD once in awhile just to actually try on and feel the watch, rather than look at pictures on line. Thanks for reading. |

Not to mention the 13% tax hit we take. So at the end of the day, the 22% discount only equates to 7% which totally sucks. US prices are far better, but TRF prices can't be beat, thanks to the great sellers on this forum.

The place is great, the selection is awesome and the ladies are always very nice to talk to (not to mention very pretty lol) I do how ever find the male to be quite snooty and cold. I know he remembers me as someone who has never bought and the last couple times I went in with FULL INTENTIONS of buying he ignored me. I gave them a chance to beat DavidSW's price but unfortunately they couldn't come near with there 22% discount. I'm surprised they had the SS Daytona in stock!

Sandro, it sounds like you had a fun day checking out all the Rolex models.....couldn't you go to America(if the prices are better)buy the watch, wear it home and have them ship you the empty box in an unmarked shipping box???

Why would I drive to the US when I can have them shipped. Plus shipping empty Rolex boxes isn't a good idea. but yes I did enjoy my 30 mins in the store. The sales reps don't make you feel at home unless they think you are buying. It's unfortunate, but true. The store is located in a richy rich posh part of downtown where all the designer stores are located. But I have to say that I knew more about the watches than the rep. Kinda sad when you think of the price tag on these things.

I am suprised that the Daytona is rare in the east though...Almost every AD out in the west has them when I look, and both dials.... Take a trip to Alberta to save on the Tax....Or wait for one here from our famous sellers whom you already know!! Good luck with next purchase..
