2010 Yachtmaster question

Hey all, new to the forums. Just picked up a 2010 stainless steel / platinum yachtmaster. Came with all papers, box, warranty card, tags, etc. However, when I look for the engraved Rolex crown near the six I do not see it. I am not sure if the yachtmasters come with this security feature or not. Should I be concerned?

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your purchase It will be there, but it's very hard to see - you need to catch it in the right light under magnification. The light background of the platinum dial won't make things easy either

Cheers

Chris

Thank you. for the kind words.

Can feel for the engraving? Are their any other marks or signs I should look for on the watch? I've been reading the forums, so I checked for the triple lock, and the winding crown with the three dots under it. That matches. It sounds exactly like my other Rolex, in terms of ticking. Magnification looks right too, 2.5. Spent almost 6k on it, just making sure. I can send it to Rolex, but that's pain and a half. After verification and shipping, there goes another 200.00.

Open for suggestions. :)

Well, it should have the engraved rehaut ring (piece of metal between the dial and crystal), with the serial number at 6 o'clock - you can check that all matches up with the paperwork. As for the LEC, there's no way of feeling for it as it's actually inside the crystal - I find the best way to see it is to hold it in bright light, and look at it at a very shallow angle (normally so you can just see the top of the 6 o'clock baton) with a jeweller's eyeglass.

You could also submit some photos here, we have some real experts who can spot tiny discrepencies

Most ADs will authenticate verbally for a fee. The one nearest me did it for $30. Their watchmaker basically just took a look at it and said, "It's legit". Most expensive one-liner I've paid!

If you can post pics, most members here will do it for free!

Is that Turdneau? How typical.

Your best recourse would be the pics.

Oh and congratulations on a really great reference!

I have the plat yachty and have never seen the engraved crown without magnification. The platinum makes it very difficult to see the light colored crown absent magnification. No need to be concerned!

Ditto, mine is a 2008 16622 YM. I actually haven't even attempted to search for the laser engraving on the crystal. I'll try to get the right amount of light to shine on this spot. Unless Jocke has a pic already?

Here is a blown up pic of that section, but my Macro lens wasn't trying to focus on that spot and light is an issue as mentioned above.

I have seen the crystal etching but you need to look at it at a certain angle with the light coming at a certain angle and when I see it... it looks a little like a smudge on the surface. Let the light flash over the area, you'll see it, you just can't identify it without a loupe.

I finally found a jeweler here that sells Rolexes and has agreed to authenticate it for me. :) Hope he knows what he's doing. The watch is spotless.

Hi Joey,

Welcome to TRF!! Question is where did you pick the watch up from? Was it a reliable source? If so, you have nothing to worry about. The laser etching will be there, but it's hard to see against the Platinum background. Try using a 10x loupe under a reading lamp. Might help.

One more question, buddy!! What happened to your remaining 8 toes? Welcome to this madhouse!!

Cheers - JJ
