Sea-Dweller..maybe/maybe not ??
Sea-Dweller,in stock,AD stamped certificate, brand new etc,etc ....for $4400 cash.I told the dealer, would let them know tomorrow.Decisions, decisions ... If only I were more impulsive,it would have been so much easier.Unfortuanately,I am not.Turning that dime around, over and over again."Dwelling" on the sublect.
Only one in stock, its a great price, exchange rate is favourable at the moment, etc etc BTW,they have a Sub/no date at $3830,too.SS Sub/Date not an option, since I have "The Blue King".Decided against the ss DJs,36mm too small for my wrist. The choice for me is the Sea-Dweller,its just a question of choice on buying it. |

I'd go for the SD!
The Sub No Date is an awesome watch, but the date function being absent is a no no for me. I found that out when I bought my 14060. Question is will you have a hard time reading the date without the cyclops? I'm not sure how well your eyes are ie. do you need one to read?

That's a good price on the SD, and a great price on the ND Sub.

Excellent pic with the SS on ICE.
The SD is one tough and good looking watch, I like the larger crown! It may not be there if you wait too long, someone else might just grab it.

I think this is going to turn out to be a rhetorical question. You KNOW you want the SD!

I would love to have a SD one day, but I would have a hard time choosing between that and the Sub no date. Tough call.

My take, and it may be against the norm, but that is okay (at least on this forum)
The SD is not for me, great watch and great bragging rights. I dive but I will never use the helium esacape value. I do not dive that deep or that long. A lot of things are nice, but if i know I will never use them, then to ME it is just anoher things to break down. The SD is the king of Rolex for deep sea diving. I just will never go that deep. The DJ is a love of mine. But if it is not for you, then maybe a YM.....? The SD and sub date are similar, not the same, but similar. In the end do what YOU want. But to get the function that will most likely never be used .... well that is up to you. But as my AD told me once, you can never go wrong with a Rolex. |

Just be sure to try on the SD first. I had been looking hard at getting a SD for over a year, but when I finally got to try one on, was not for me. Too thick and heavy and stood up to high. The SUB fit much better on the wrist for me.

The Dweller will be the "play" watch ~ Weekends, gym, quad racing etc.It will have a harder life ...
My beloved Blue King will be the "work" and "dress" watch .... The Rolex collection is complete. Both these watches will be passed on to my son,one day. When I sold the GMT II red/black,he was a bit upset, because I said that he would inherit it one day .... Better keep my promise now !! He is 6 years old and it seems that he has already developed an appreciation for the subject, like his father.. It must be in the genes .... I would consider buying him a Rolex one day,but it wont be for a birthday or Christmas present, thats too easy,it should be performance/goal driven, like a degree or some other achievement, that merits such a gift. Then again, perhaps the first one he should buy himself one day, only then does one truely appreciate it and realize its true value. |

If you dont do deep diving, maybe that no date sub would be worth it (if you dont care to know the date) I personally am trying to adjust to not having a date on my watch... it stinks

HAH!!! Congratulations on a great choice Chris, wear it in good health. That Rolex will take whatever you can dish out, and come back for more. P.S. Do I win a prize for guessing what you'd buy, like maybe that raggedy old blue Sub?
