Why does GMT retail LOWER than a Sub?
SS models of course... And before any discounts
$5175 for the sub $5075 for the GMT... I just never understood why I would guess the GMT feature would cost a bit more. I then thought perhaps the Sub can be submerged in water deeper than a GMT? If my speculations are correct and the two watches are identical (except for the 4th hand) Then why should someone be charged more for a Sub? Then again Im still learning all of the details of these fine fine watches, And my curiousity is really getting to me |

I'm thinking it's mostly because Rolex sells a lot more Sub's then GMT's and there isn't much reason to discount something when it's hot.

My guess is it's the bracelet and clasp. I thought there was about a $100 difference between the two.

Got to agree just they sell a lot more Subs than GMTS more Subs more profit its that simple.Looking at a old brochure from the 80s now this is a strange one,the O/Q £992 the DJ £840,AirKing £555, Daytona 6263/5 only £882 a very poor seller at the time, how things have changed over a few years. The GMT 11 Master £998,Sub date £1012 Explorer 11 £954 and the SD £1161 so though the years there has always been this price difference Sub/GMT.

Well...the Sub has the triplock but the GMT has the third hand so that evens out. I'm gonna agree with Mike that it's the bracelet/clasp/diver's extension

I think it's because the Sub's outsell the GMT's.

It seems to me that used prices of GMT's are a lot lower? If you have a say GMT in same condition and same year compared to a sub what would be the difference in used price? Given papers boxes condition everything is the same? Say for a older 1990's or a 2000's model?

plain and simple.....higher demand = higher selling price...even though the list prices are the same for 16710 and 16610...at S$7444
stocks for 16610 move fast....much much faster than for the gmt 2...

To me they are still not different enough to demand a higher price, If I was in the market for a SS Rolex sport model I would go with the GMT (and save some cash while im there)
not to mention I also like that red hand! But if I were getting a TT sport model, It would be a hard hard choice btwn the GMT TT and the blue Sub |
