How do you guys pace your watch purchases?

Hey fellas!

Had a question pop in my head.

How do you guys pace yourselves with regards to watch purchases?

Do you limit yourselves to 1x/year or 2x/year?

Is it a random sequence of events? Like do you find something you like and find a way to fit it into the budget?

If I do that so should I be 150 years old at the moment.

I use to buy when I have some extra cash and never sell.

Usually coincides with a major life event. I.e. Birth of a child or significant birthday. Its nice to mark a special event with a beautiful timepiece. Also gives me an excuse never to get the urge to flip.

This works for me
My first subbie came after my surgery and a week before my birthday.
The Milgauss although an impulse buy was bought a week before our wedding anniversary
Hmmm.... Still thinking of another reasons that wifey will buy

Let me rephrase that so it will work "Still thinking that buying the wifey one will give me another reason"

What ever I can get away with when my fiance isn't looking lol

J/P

I won't make another major watch purchase for 4-5 years likely. I've got home ownership on the mind now :)

You can say that again. If I hadn't found this site and got sucked in, I'd have a DD2 and a nice PP Nautilus. Because of TRF, I now have a cool dozen to drool over. I'd call that enabling.

I was planning 1 a year, but now I think I'll keep it at 5 and flip for any additions. So whenever it is that I can bring myself to sell one of my mine, that's when I'll buy.

Reached my limit for a while. Last 3 have been trades. Not a time thing with me. More a want! Luckily nothing is calling on top of what I have.

I joined TRF in September 2009 and purchased my first Rolex DJ 16220 (#1)shortly after. Then I was drawn into "The ExpII Enigma" and by Jan had my ExpII (#2). I had to also buy my wife a TT Lady DJ (#3) as an aniversary gift. In March before the Masters, and after a lot of TW hype, I bet on a hunch and found a nice Tudor Tiger 79280 (#4). In May I was drawn to the TRF Omega Forum and after a couple of weeks saw a nice Speedy Auto (#5) for sale that I had to have. Its now August a month from my TRF first aniversary and I have a Tudor 76100 Sub (#6) on the way.

I don't think I've found a pace but I'm having a good time getting there and learning along the way. Oh, maybe - 1 every other month

Dude - I wish I could have the self-control some of our members do, but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I have this disorder that has no reasoning or conscience to pace myself.....I need help....
