I have seen on a Swedish forum that some G series Rolex were spotted, apparently it is NOT random serial numbers!

Have anyone else seen this?

My all new SS / SubC has an standard V 98X XXX serial number, witch I really like:-)

I assume random numbers should never start with an letter as for example, Z, M and V because you could then mix them up with older models that can then clam to be random number?

what do you think?

Mine starts with GU and then has 6 numbers after that.

I have a recently bought (from AD) SS Submariner 16610 (non-ceramic) which has a serial number GXXXXXX. It is new, and not a V series serial number as your Ceramic Sub.

Does that add to the confusion?

As I see it-- if it is a random number case-- it tends to have more than one letter in it.. so I don't think it would matter if it had a z, m or v.

That would seem to make sense, but I recently saw a bnib Sub (16610) that had all numbers and ended in 1 letter. I'd call it a random too

In series serial #'s are 7 characters.
Random have 8.

Just got my Sub C with a G serial number (Aug 18/2010). Dealer said the watch came in last week.
