Freshly serviced Sub
My six year old Sub has been gaining on a daily basis for some time now. When it got to fifteen seconds a day, I decided to do something about it. I called Rolex, and they said that a service would take at least twelve weeks! So, I took it to my local AD. They have a watch repairer on site, and said it would be done in three to four weeks. Three weeks later (today) they called me to say it was ready. So I jumped on my trusty Triumph and went over to get it. When they handed it over, I thought they had given me the wrong watch! It looked brand new! All the little dings and scratches were miraculously gone. And they gave me a two year guarantee. As I didn't buy the watch from them, I was surprised with this level of service. I will certainly go there again. They are Whittles of Preston. Nice people.

Congrats, Mick. Now you have to worry about another first scratch.

Well done - pleased it's worked out well.
My GMT has just got back from it's service. It took 12 weeks. Before it went it gained + 1 a day. Now it's gaining + 13. The opposite to your experience.

Well, it's been 24hours since I picked it up. Just checked the time against GMT and guess what? It is spot on! To the second. It wasn't this good when it was new! I'm chuffed to bits!

Really pleased for you mate. 12 weeks is simply unacceptable in my book. I would always look to go to a reputable "local" watchmaker come service time as I had a similar experience to Quicksilver when my watch was in the hands of Rolex.
I dont know what id do if Rolex had my watch for 12 weeks and it came back gaining 12 seconds!! |

I'm sure it will be challenged here that your watch was already performing at about 9.992% accuracy, therefore unwise to crack er' open for such risky and unnecessary operation!

Yes. According to the chap I spoke to, The service is done to Rolex standards (perhaps even better, going off Quicksilvers problems). The watch is thoroughly tested in a variety of positions, and is only handed back to the customer when the watchmaker is happy. I don't think i'll ever send my watch to Rolex. Why would I?

I was told 16 weeks. 12 more to go. It used to gain 1.5 sec per day, if it comes back worse than that, I will not be very happy at all.

Just checked it again, now 48 hours after getting it back, and it is still spot on. To the second! I wonder if they squeezed a quartz movement in there whilst they had it apart? j/k!
