HELP ME, Rolex Gold 16613 problem

Hi,

I "recently" purchased a rolex watch, in may to be specific.

I wear it everyday on a 8-9 hours basis, not regular on holidays, sometimes i do, sometimes i dont.

Although, it has become to stop from time to time on a non-regular basis... I called my AD nymans and they said i should wound it manually. So i did, but yet it stops from time to time. And when i wounded it for 20-25 times it worked for a time, maybe 1-2 hours then stops again.

What could be the problem? If this will become more often i will visit my AD but maybe you guys could help me out.

When i come home i just put the watch in my box and leave it there, i have no wind-system.

Not really sure what the problem could be, any number of things might be causing this. I would recommend sending it in for a service at an RSC, especially if it is still under warranty.

Since it's an N series it's most likely not under warranty.

Wind it manually 40 turns then lay it down and check how long it runs.

If it still stops after a few Hr's then it's time for a service.

Be sure and do the full 40 times!

I have written the wrong series in my profile, but you recomend a service? It has only belonged to me for 4 months....

Sorry, I wrote that because you had it in your profile.

In that case bring it back to your AD and let them check it out.

I've read that the automatic mechanism will not function correctly unless it is fully wound to being with.

Try winding it 40-50 times (until you feel the clutch grinding) and then wear it all day.

Let us know the results!

I'm sorry, I gave you the wrong instructions.

You only unscrew the crown and in THAT first position is where you wind the watch.

Don't know what I was thinking, too early and before breakfast.

Try not to be frustrated. If that doesn't work, go to the AD and let them check it out.

In the end, you'll have an excellent watch.

It stopped! But i can now officially say i succeeded to wind the rolex! I pull the crown out a bit by screwing it, then i screw it (not towards me) the rolex started to vibrate and make sounds. I screw until i couldnt do it anymore (i think about 3 laps). Then the watch started automaticly, i didnt shake it, it started by itself when i head back to my desk.

Maybe i succeeded.. i do not know... this thread has become more and more interesting..

When it started to vibrate and make sound did the little cooko bird come out?

Seriously, what are the 3 laps you're talking about?

Didn't you wind it approx 40 turns?

On a full wind it should last around 48 hours give or take, and thats just sitting idle without wearing it......
From what I've read throught this thread,I'm not sure your winding it correctly....

Please bear with me..
Unscrew the crown to the first position. This means release it from the threads until it becomes free(This sometimes requires a little wiggle for it to pop out to its first position)...Now,Turn the crown away from yourself(12 o'clock direction) for 40 to 50 finger turns on the crown...Don't stop winding because it starts ticking after 10 to 15 turns...Keep winding until you count out 40!!
Screw the crown back in and let it sit undisturbed with the face in the upright position....

Me too, let's see if Lrossa comes back and reports that all is fine now or if he's just playing a prank on us.
