Hi all,

I am looking for a Daytona TT with a white or gold dial. I have been on the new Rolex Site and have looked through the specs.

I noted that the small seconds counter dial is at the bottom and the hour counter dial is on the top left. I would have thought that this would be the same on all of the Daytonas? But then I found this one with the hour and second hand dials transposed.

Can anyone explain this?

Quite easy to explain that one is powered by a Rolex modded Zenith-El Primo movement. And now getting quite collectable especially in S.Steel a first class chronograph movement in every way.And the model before that one like the Daytona 6263/65 was powered by a ETA Valjoux 72 movement.Now Rolex never had a own in-house chronograph movement until.Being forced to make there own after Zenith would not/could not supply enough bare ebauche movements to Rolex.So in 2000 Rolex introduced there first ever all in-house chronograph movement in the Cal. 4130.Different movement different sub dial lay out Rolex in-house movement sub seconds at the 6 O'Clock position.

That seems to be the top end of retail market,around $7000- $7500 around the varius forums, but the Zenith movement watches are rising in prices.Now if that one is mint with all papers etc then its not a bad price.

Have a look at Prince's TT Daytona.In my opinion the nicest looking one, I have seen.Just the right combination of dial,bezel colours ,mixed together ..

Are your GTR performance chipped ?? Very fast cars,I have seen them on the dragstrip.One of the patients we did a coronary bypass on, a month ago,has one.Chasing 10.5 secs on the 1/4 mile and thats at our altitude of 1450m(4800 feet for the Americans),where times are much slower.

Hi Blue Bull,

Thanks for all the info on the daytona. The one shown in the pix is in Australia so I might follow it up but the slate dial is really something. Too many nice rolexes to choose from!

My GTR is stock except for FC computer, HKS exhaust and Apexi pods.
293 kW at the wheels. This pix shows before and after tuning - accept my apologies for the off topic but if you ask me to talk about cars or watches!!

Stuck a pix in of one of my other favorite rolexes. My old 1601 (276XXXX) just because.
