I noticed 2 'V' sereis SDs on the sales forum and thought that the SD was out of production with the 'M' series. Can anyone verifiy?

They're most probably not making any more but the last versions were indeed on a V series.

I reckon they were all made in 2009 and are just working their way finally through the distribution system.

They've not been available direct from Rolex for about 2 years now. The last Sea Dwellers came right at the start of the V-serial stamps

As mentioned, V's were the last produced serials. Not many were distributed in the US. Though I've seen a few members from the west coast (US) have them.

I regret that I cannot comment on a worldwide position, but as far as the UK is concerned, the very last batch of SD's were released by Rolex to a handful of independent AD's last Christmas (2009).

These watches were all V serial numbered and as far as I can ascertain were given out to the independent AD's as a reward for past sales. They then appeared on the new Rolex price list at Christmas 2009 at £4070, so the AD's would make quite a profit on those ones and obviously had little problem selling them to very lucky customers.

A nice little Christmas bonus!

Does anyone think the V series seadweller will be worth more years down the road to the collector types, because the limited run on them ?

Possibly, but they're exactly the same as all the other thousands of 16600s produced. I don't think there's any firm basis for them to be a collector's item, in my honest opinion

The V serial is the last of the SD's produced. I just picked one up at a local AD this past month (even got a discount!). They are still out there, but not too many V serials.

I picked up a V serial in March 2009 and my AD said that was the end.
Interesting note about the extras sent out at Christmas 2009.

From what I can tell, M and V were made concurrently and both can be considered the last serials. There may even be random serial SDs out there...

This is evidenced by some SubCs coming with an "M" Serial...

Yes, and i am 100% sure that it is the last batch of classic seadweller. So far i did not encounter any random number on this piece.

does anyone know if the v's being discussed in this form had the rehaut engraving? i've never seen a sd with rehaut engraving, anyone have a different experience?

No, to the best of my knowledge, the SD luckily escaped the rehaut engraving. Yet another reason to love this model.
