Red Submariner... need help with authenticity

Interested to get this red sub. Not an expert so no clue if its authentic. I just love the 1680 and if it's the real deal, hopefully get my hands on it. Hope a few people can give their thoughts, and whether or not it's a good deal at US$8,800. Thanks.

Pictures and description are from the seller (in another watch forum).

Hi, Its a pity no one has so far answered. Interested to know if you asked the same questions in the forum where this watch is listed?

It looks like a nice watch, but I would question the seller claiming "Virgin untouched condition" as the end pieces are clearly not correct, and the band ?

The serial number looking at the pictures implies 2.3M and the dial is a feet first.....? (Pictures of the dial not the best either.)

If you check a couple of excellent pages for reference ie

http://rolex.watchprosite.com/show-f...ti-649211/s-0/ and

http://www.network54.com/Forum/20759...edSub+versions.

Don't get me wrong, all I am saying is maybe things are not "Virgin untouched condition" or original to the watch.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input Michael. I haven't asked the seller any questions yest because to be honest, I don't know much about red submariners except that they are beautiful and would love to own a vintage Rolex some day. Thank you for the links. Will study them now.
