HELP!!! Waterproof Seal broken when polishing a Rolex watch???
I am looking for good knowledge or experience about this strange situation I am finding myself. I left my Oyster DATEJUST with the jewler I bought it from in Berlin for a polish, i had asked for a quote but he could only offer a vague ...it won't be much. I let him continue just trusting his statement. Next thing I hear over the phone is that his employee broke the waterproof seal when he opened it to do the polishing and they had to reorder the piece. It just happens that i had asked for a light version polishing and hearing that somebody opened my watch for a light version polishing does not mix well in my logic. Besides, how could he break it? was it inexperience? i need to know because how i see it coming so far, they want me to pay for the broken piece!!! Does this makes sense to anyone? thank you for any good piece of advice and knowledge to help me face this situation.

I guess it depends on who you are dealing with.
If it is a reputable repairer it should be O.K. On the other hand, one has to ask the question, "Why if it was a light polish was the case opened in the first place?"
