Thoughts on this Woman's Tissot
Hey all I'm looking to get my lady a nice watch that isn't terribly expensive as a graduation present. She's not really into watches, and doesn't currently wear one -- that being said, she's also active. Considering this, I don't want to spend a lot of money so that I won't be disappointed if:
1. she doesn't wear it too often 2. bangs it up 3. isn't worth the cost of expensive servicing. 4. i'm saving up because i want to find a liquid metal planet ocean (i'm 99.9% sure i don't want a submariner after falling for the omega!). So without further adieu the Tissot Classic Dream. I like the fact that it is a swiss brand, has a sapphire crystal top, has matte and polished links for the bracelet, and 30m water resistance. I'm of course open to suggestions; however, I'm trying to spend no more than $400, and preferably $300.00 at most. I am not opposed to buying used from a reputable seller if someone around here has something for sale :) Bulovas aren't bad; however, I like the tissot better for the most part. I have a few months till she graduates; however, would like to find something asap (I guess it's the ocd in me). I appreciate any help, thanks folks! |

hello Mr.Ling
I would say you indeed have a good choice...as you can see from my signature,I am a total Tissot guy..love the brand and have had a great experience with them...and it is cool that you give her something from the same parent company (swatch) that you are hoping to get..you do know Tissot and Omega were the founding members of the group that joined way back in 1930s...yes it may be weird but I do like such connections hence I have almost always stayed within the swatch group..anyway, given your requirements, I think that Tissot fits the bill perfectly and is a highly recommendable watch for quality and reliability at an affordable price |

I like it!
Tissot is brand with tradition and they make some really nice and reliable watches. And all of them are great bang for buck. Anyway, if she`s active person, you should perhaps watch trough Seiko line (BEST bang for buck IMHO) and find some "tougher" watch with water resistance better than 30m. (I don`t mean robust in man`s watch way, just maybe model on bracelet with 100m WR) But nevertheless, you really can`t go wrong with watch you choose, that Tissot is beauty!

I really like the white pearl version. The only thing I am not a fan of is quartz movements. It is tough to get into an automatic in the lower price range but I know the Nordstrom website sells some swatches and Kenneth Cole automatics in the $200-$400 range (search "automatic watches" on their website). I was going to pick one up for my wife, who as well doesn't like expensive watches, but also won't wear a quartz.

Thanks for the input folks, after more looking I really like the tissot; however, seiko's aren't bad at all! My first watch was the seiko kinetic I was given when they came out.
I will have to look into not-so-expensive automatics, I'd love to go that route; however, I want to get something nice that won't cost too much, and I'd hate to buy a $400 automatic that wasn't all around as nice as the tissot since majority of the money spent on it was for the movement. I will none the less have to look, thanks! |
