Greetings Abel,

I purchased an 18K 1601, circa 1970, for my father about 10 years ago. It came on an 18K President bracelet (not original to the watch). It is a beautiful watch and has great presence on the wrist. Unfortunately I don't have any pics, I do need to take some as his collection has grown and he has several nice pieces.

Be sure to let us know the outcome, whether you purchase it, or even any thoughts on it.

Best regards,
Renato

I have a SS 1601, it is a 36mm case on a jubilee bracelet.
It has a piepan dial and it is a really nice vintage piece with a cal.1570 movement.
The 1601 should have a fluted bezel (not engine turned as that is a 1603).

Hello!!
Dear friends: Thank you so much for your feedback!
I read with much interest your nice comments.
Beautiful watch Joeyza!

I had no opportunity yet, to see the watch in person. I know it has a "pie pan" dial and a riveted Oyster bracelet.
Bezel is fluted, exactly as the one Joeyzal shows.
Both case and bracelet is 18K gold.

I will be visiting my vintage seller this week end, if I find a little time.
Iīll keep this Forum posted if any news arrive. I surely would love to get this one, but seller has not told price or condition of watch. Just as always he says: "come and see yourself, and then we will talk!!".

Thank you again! Abel.

All,

I have an 18K DJ with a dial identical to Jim's above. I bought it used, and I've thought it was from the late 60's or 1970. I heard once that solid 18 DJ's were rare. Are they any more rare than other solid gold Rolex's?

This my first post since discovering this forum. Please excuse any newbie errors in form or protocol.

Joeyza: Beatiful watch! Yes, itīs a pitty you sold it!! Well, there is always a chance to come across a similar one again!

Jim: great watch! Thanks for sharing!

The one they are offering me, is also a 1601, but full gold, case and bracelet.
I have to see it in person.
May be this week end.
Thank you again!
Very cordially, Abel.

I have a 1966 era gold DJ without bracelet. I don't know if it's a 1601 , or not, but it has a pie pan dial in that linen-look texture and it's 14k. Great looking on a gator strap. I've never seen a gold DJ of that period on an original bracelet.

Thank you again, and cordial regards, Abel

Hello Jeff! Welcome to TRF, and I wish youīll enjoy this place.

Iīm trying to find any 18K 1601 owners here at TRF, to know their comments and photos, as Iīm presently being offered one, from the 1960īs, and considering its purchase.

I do not really know, if full gold DJ are more rare than other gold Rolex, but I personally do not think so. DJ were and are very popular watches, and its offering in gold looks like a nice idea.

Would be interesting if you can share some pictures of your own watch, and tell us a little more about it.

Thank you and best cordial regards, Abel.

Abel,

I'm traveling now but will post some pictures when I get home. I don't know much about mine. I bought it in 2000 and paid about $3k - no bracelet.

Hello Matt!! Nice to hear from you, and thank you for your good wishes!!

Yes, Iīm in the dealing stage now, trying to get a fair price on the piece I was being offered.

I have been last Saturday, at the vintage watch shop, looking both at this full gold DJ, as well as the 125 Anniversary Omega.

Both watches look with very little use, and well mantained, working properly.
The Rolex is gorgeous, from c. 1959, pan dial, and ... well, Iīll reserve the description in case I can finally buy it and will show it here!!

Went yesterday again, to see them again and make an offer for both pieces, and will keep dealing this week. May be I have good (or bad) news towards this week end.

Thank you again, and keep in touch friend!
Very cordially, Abel.
