Regulating another mechanical watches

From the forum here I got some knowledge useful to regulating a Rolex as below, for another mechanical watches if applicable?
1. To gain a few seconds, lay the watch flat face-up overnight.
2. To lose a few seconds, lay the watch vertically with the crown downwards overnight.
3. To lose a few more seconds, lay the watch vertically with the crown up overnight.

Any additional suggestions if I've tried laying the crown up and down, on different occasions, to lose a few seconds?

Rolex does not put those tips in with their watches any more..

It seems that the newer high beat/larger mainspring models don't have such a noticeable positional variance as earlier movements did......
