GMTC vs GMT Pepsi Purchase
Boys I have an opportunity at buying a new 2010 GMT C or a new discontinued GMT for 08 with Pepsi Bezel both from AD and both same price any help as your thoughts on which would be a better value and more in demand down the road?
Thanks |

I'd go for the pepsi. You can always but a ceramic GMT in the future.

I recently traded in my 116710 for a Coke 16710 and have not regretted the decision one bit. As for buying modern Rolex wristwatches as investments, that is a zero sum game. But it to enjoy it, or don't buy it at all. Welcome to TRF.

All of the advice noted above is spot on.
I am lucky to own both a 16710 & 116710. IMO, the ceramic GMT will no doubt be around for a while without changes. So, I would go with the pepsi 16710. As a bonus you can always get the other bezel inserts (coke & black) and/or a jubilee bracelet. That gives you potentially six watches in one. |

If the price of the GMT II is at fair market value or better, then that would be the better buy, but not by much. If you are leaning towards that watch, then perhaps look for an even older model that is done with the steep part of it's depreciation curve.

Pepsi Without Hesitation
Dear Marty,
I would go with Pepsi without hesitation a single second! It is a fantastic classic And later on you can always find GMTc anyway, but get a Pepsi while you can. Don't forget to treat our eyes with many lovely fotos. It is the tradition Capt. Serdal |

Over $7.000 dollars for a 16710 "Pepsi"..?..
I bet these kind AD's must be having a party, as they can not even sell diamond jewelry with such markups. |

Don't buy your watch based on poorly predictable future values. Buy a watch because you like it, and you plan to wear the heck out of it
Incidentally, I would also get the pepsi

Well said Jason, i agree. All in all we obsess too much about resale when the true gift is smiling when seeing the watch on the wrist. I own both, but have rarely touched the pepsi since I bought the gmt2. My vote is with the ceramic...

Get pepsi. You can switch out the bezel insert for coke and all black, gives you 3 watches to play with. You can always get GMT IIc at a later time, it's not going away any time soon.

I would go for the GMT2c. The price for the pepsi is too high. IMO.
