Thoughts on owning a sub 16610 and 16613...

Hi all

I have a classic sub and was thinking about part exchanging my blue face breitling colt to obtain a preowned two tone classic blue sub 16613.

Any thoughts on owning a classic sub and two tone sub? Are they just to similar to warrant the purchase?

I really love the blue dial on the sub and look against the gold.

Thanks

I think they are very different once on your wrist.

Are you over 50 ?? Then the 16613 may work for you. Personally I've never liked that watch. And since you're considering pre owned out for bracelet stretch,a common and rather annoying thing on a 16613.

Love the bluesy!! Ageless timeless, it's a beautiful piece. I'd go for a discontinued sea dweller and a bluesy - creates the right variety for two watches that come from the same family.

FYI - I'm under 50 and my bluesy suits me just fine. Wearing it today actually. :)

I'm just over 50 and have exactly that combo. I'd agree with someone earlier who said they are sufficiently different once on your wrist, so my advice would be - go for it!

Andy, I think the only thing on this whole statement you got right was what I've underlined. That is your opininon, and your entitled to it!

As for the rest, where did you read you need to be over 50 to wear TT....(Or gold)??
FYI, I have 2 TT's and love em'!! (and I'm only 25 years old, for the last 15 years)
Same with the bracelet. Many fine examples still getting around without major stretch. If they are correctly clean and worn, then the bracelet will last at least until your 50..

I have a 16610 and a 116613 ceramic.
Class sub in ss and modern sub in blue TT. IMHO the best combination.
You get to enjoy the classic case, bezel and bracelet and at the same time you will enjoy the latest technology from rolex on the 116613.

Exactly the same as mine - I love it. Used on high days and holidays though I must admit, spends most of it's life in a winder !

So what's a "high day"? Am I allowed to ask?

I should ask my wife - she's British

Even if I currently have a 16610, I would love to have a two-tone version, though the black dial one would be my preference.

I would do it! I've come very close myself many times to grabbing a 16613 black face even though I wear my 16610 daily. They are truly beautiful watches but not everyone appreciates them!

I, personally, prefer the look of a TT Sub in black, but the blue is a great choice. The blue wears very differently from the black face watches-- either TT or SS.

Just go a little further and go for the 116613. IMHO, a massive upgrade. I hankered for a 16613, but was impressed enormously with the ceramic. I still am!

I have both. I assumed I would not wear the 16610 anymore [got a black faced 16613 from Ryan@Capcity] and I placed the 16610 for sale on the forum. I must confess I have swapped back and forth.

Sometimes I like the down played brushed SS VS the blinging sides of the 16613.. I work on computers a lot so I prefer the 16610 in the office and it's not uncommon for me lately to switch back and forth between the two a few times in one day.

Furthermore I was blinded by the new watch for the first 2 weeks, now I'd say it's OK to own both and you WILL swap back and forth. It's nice not to have to worry as much about scratches with SS.. I am sure we all worry to some extent about our watches but polished gold? Turns it up to 11 ;) [I know I know just wear and enjoy..]

Ordering myself a 116613 from one of our forum sellers today. I am right around the halfway point to 50, and i think it'll look great on me.

Have both, If financially you're able to. First ever was the 16613 Black, then I purchased a Serti and Blue Dial, few years later I figured I needed the 16610. Why, same reason your posting: I am an addict. I can't seem to part with either. I've grown my collection as well since then. TRF and VRF are not a good place for a guy with my disease!

I had both, and sold the TT a few weeks ago to a kind fella here. I had some 16613's come and go... I still reach for the SS first, but the 2tone still has a place in my heart... In fact, I might be buying another one soon!!! LOL!!!

And NO, you dont need to be 50 to wear a TT, I am 29, and the gent I sold to was a younger guy as well!!!!

I had the 16610 and now have the 16613 black.
The 16610 is easier to wear daily without attention. however, i wear long sleeves mostly and i love the 16613.
maybe the deepsea will be my next watch for me. same looks as 16610 almost.

you can do what i do to , switch it up with nato straps.

Never was a two tone fan. Picked up a 16613 in a trade (black dial and bezel insert), and I was impressed; nice watch. My girlfriend absolutely went bananas; she really liked it.
