Jogging in a Submariner...

I have quite recently "invested" in my first Rolex...a MINT M-serial sub which I really like ...but I have a small issue..I dont know if it's just in my mind or of it's justified...

I am an amateur boxer and as such run at least 7km 3-5 times a week..I jog with whatever watch I have on and like to use the bezel to time the run..

Now I am a mech. eng by profession and am really intersted in the mechanics in my watches. I am a bit let down that my 3135 uses a simple bearing in the rotor and it has recently dawned on me if I should be running in my sub at all ...

I am worried of premature wear to the tiny axle on which the rotor turns and can vividly picture the rotor "scraping" on the movement plate as shown in the picture below...

What are your opinions? Should I quit jogging in my sub? I know the 3135 is reputed to be very reliable but in all honesty it is the only mid-high movement I have seen which suffered "brushing" of the rotor on the plate ...

No worries. Time has proven the 3135 to be one of the most durable and robust automatic movements in watch history.

I have been jogging, used a punchbag, played basketball with the kids, played water polo, played tennis etc, wearing either a GMT or Sub & never had a problem. Enjoy your Sub & don't worry about it.

Its just a watch a expensive watch but still only a watch, and I can assure you with over 30 years of wearing and sometimes abusing my watches.Any Rolex oyster will take all you can take plus a lot more.So stop worrying about your watch they don't need any sort of pampering, except for a wash in plain soap and water, and with regular routine service many will outlast there owners.

I always take my Submariner (or whichever watch I happen to be wearing) off for a run. One time I stepped out the door and realized I still had my Sub on; so I went running with it on. Once I started sweating the watch started sliding up and down my wrist and was very uncomfortable. I wasnt worried about the watch being damaged, just my skin!

Not a problem. It's amazing the things my wife has put her watches through. I tend to be more careful then her.

i run 5x a week with my 14060 and haven't had a problem with it at all functionality wise. although, someone said that it does slide up and down the wrist due to sweat; same happens to me. i say, enjoy it to the max and i do almost everything with it. put the saying "everyday wearer" to the test...
