Is there any place to get used ROLEX in NYC?

NYC has lots of watch stores like Torneau, Wempe and etc.

Are there any stores that deal with used watches?

Try 47th St and 5th Av. Diamond District. But be cautious.

Remember, when you buy anything in Manhattan, the ridiculously high rent is passed on to you. You're better off buying somewhere else, like on this forum. I went into a used watch shop in Manhattan and was shocked at the asking prices. I don't remember where it was.

Central Watch, Grand Central Station, but prices are high...they will never, ever sell fakes...they get their parts direct from Rolex, and guard their repuation closely. I agree that buying in NY is an expensive proposition. Have you considered buying on this forum or joining the NAWCC, and going to a regional show, and buying there?

midtown - mid 40's between 5th & 6th ave. Tourneau & Wempe can also be found in the area.

Good luck!

I got my sub from Antiquorum. The next NYC auction is on June 8th I believe.
I found this advice to be extremely helpful:
BUY THE SELLER!

You can buy in confidence in the diamond district. There are several grey market shops there with reasonably competitive prices. Just make sure you do your due diligence and have an idea of what you're looking for.

Do not go to the shops around Rockefeller or 57th st. Those are the shops that you end up paying their rent through ridiculous markups.

Tourneau has its own pre-owned selection but I've only found it to be much more expensive than what you can find elsewhere.

This is perfect advice. I have purchased many a watch in diamond district. Matter of fact I was able to get a BNIB V series SS Daytona with all the upgrades for msrp plus $100(and that was a while ago). I could not find one at the local AD's

Try Tarrytown Jewelers up in Hartsdale. Check their website Tarrytownjewelers.com. Give them a call or go up and see them. I guarantee you'll be safe and be pleased with your purchase. I buy there all the time and NO I don't work there or have any financial interest in the place. Actually the last time I was there I met another TRF member because we began talking watches and mentioned the forum.

Best of luck!

If I was a betting man I would say yes- there might be a place or two to get a used Rolex in NYC. I would love to hear other's opinions on this though to make sure my thinking is correct.

Diamond District

Hey Guys:

Any recommendations for watch dealers within the diamond district? I went there a few months ago and I saw a lot of really nice watches. But it's tough to determine who's reputable or not because there's just so many of them.

I found most prices there to be higher than TRF...
Most GMT IIs there went for around $4500.
Most Sub Dates went for $4000-$4500
And these are watches that were between 10-15 years old.

Must most stores were willing to deal.

The last time I toured the Diamond District I was amazed at how many stores there were carrying so many Rolex, Breitling, AP, Hublot etc. I have never seen so many new Rolexes in my life. And the prices were not much better (if at all) than you could get at an AD so why would people buy from them?
