1940's Rolex Standard Info
I found this forum when searching for information on my Grandfather's Rolex watch I inherited. I have not found much information on it at all unfortunately. I don't even know if it is a genuine Rolex or not... hence why I am looking for some help tracking down more info.
My grandfather scribed his name and the date 1940 on the back of the case... apparently a common practice when men joined the army back then. He was a member of the reserves during WWII. There are also a number of very small scribed numbers inside the back case that I have been told were the marks of watch smiths who worked on it over the years. Whether or not that is true or not I have no idea. Here are a couple pictures of the face and movement. |

Looks pretty old. This watch is out of my range of knowledge though. Experts should chime in soon. Mean while try posting this on vintagerolexforum.com (VRF)
