Spectacular piece..

http://rolexforums.com/showthread.ph...highlight=Chad

the 341 has been controversial...I love it in person just not a piece for daily wear (nor for my wrist)...I understand its significance to the collectors...

Bigger isn't always better... or I'm just bitter at having small wrists.

If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I'd get one!

But, I don't have that "problem"

It takes a 27/27mm strap.

i wear it on the weekend only.

remember, the size is not for fashion. panerai used to make tools back in the day besides watches. most of the tools were big and bulky so they can be read under water over their wet suits and they placed most of their tools on wrist straps so the divers could wear them with ease.

here are some cool shots of the original vintage TOOL egiziano.

also, i have to be honest, this thing is the same weight as my steel 44mm 005 logo

I tried the 341 on once too! It was HUGE! It dwarfed my wrist, keep in mind I'm 12 years old!

6 1/5 inch
i think no matter what size wrist you have the watch is going to look very big. but its such cool history, thats the only reason why i bought it, deff not for its size. To me the watch has so much meaning and it's something i don't think i would ever sell. Something for my enjoyment, no safe queen here.

I am just getting started with Panerai and am considering either the PAM 111 or 113, but the 341 is silly and does nothing for brand image.

I would never own it, but that doesn't mean others wouldn't. Seems to be fine for the former Governator. I would say this does in fact boost the brand image, despite the ridiculous size! (pic taken from the Internet)

read this article if you want to know more about the 341 (and why it isn't "silly"): http://www.exoticsandluxury.com/pane...iomir-egiziano

I understand that most folks will not appreciate the Egiziano because it's so large. But if you'll read up on the history of the watch it makes more sense. This was a reproduction of a watch made for the Egyptian navy back in the 50's. They had trained with the Italian navy and liked their large, tough, easy to read Panerai dive watches. But they asked for something larger and more indestructible that could be worn over dive suits. They commissioned Panerai to make 50 of those original Egiziano Grosso ("Large Egyptian") watches. There are only a handful of the originals floating around and sell for $180,000 now. This was a special edition completely reverse engineered from an original because the Egyptian navy also asked for the blueprints for the watch so that no other military could have one.

So from a fashion standpoint, I understand people may not like it. But I think the history of it is really cool and I think it's a really fun watch. To each his own.

Great piece of info. Thanks! I agree, interesting part of history, but still feel it is a bit much from a fashion standpoint.
