Will a GMT master oyster bracelet fit on a datejust?

Say I get a band that came off a gmt master 2 that is 20mm will it fit on a datjust that also accepts a 20mm band or do they connect to the watch differently?

they connect to the watch the same.

One is a 36mm case and the other is a 40mm case so they have a different contour where the end-link meets the case.

Some do not like the mis-match as there is a slight gap either at each side or in the middle, depending on which bracelet is on which watch........ others don't mind ..

I believe the model number on the bracelet is 78200 and it has 15/423 on the clasp and I want to put it on a 36mm datejust 116200.. Anyone have any pics of the mismatch where the bracelet hooks up to the watch.
