PAM 112 vs PAM 111
good morning(im on the west coast) everyone!
Quick question, while im in debate on what model to get gmt II or a pam a question arose. My friend and I were talking about how i should i get the pam. I threw out 000 or 112. He said that the 112 is more true to Panerai history. Meaning, no logo. However, now my question is 112 vs 111. Which model is more to true to Panerai history. On wikipedia, it showed marina militare pic that was similar to the 111. Was there ever a base 112 model back in the day? please help. sorry if i sound like newb, but i am to Panerai. Please feel free to school me on this. thanks! |

I think Rads where the first.
Historically, both Rads and Lums where two handed if they had a normal movement. They had a second hand if they had an 8 day movement. So a 112 is more accurate from a 111 standpoint, but a 2 would be more accurate b/c of solid case back. A 190 is more accurate than a 183, but who in the heck cares. Get what you want.

I vote for the 111- simply because I wouldn't want to look at my watch for a minut or two just too see if it was still running.

I like the clean look of the 112. But feeling the seconds hand.
What price range is a "good deal" for the 111? Please post new and preowned prices. Thanks! |

I don't care that you relinked it, but some people get pretty up in arms when you re-show their pictures (especially from their own account). It doesn't bother me, but as a general rule, don't do it as some people get pretty aggressive.

Funny but true side- story Mik...
I posted a shot of the fluted bezel of my DJ on TRF. It was picked up by Jakes Blog at some point... However, after I reposted it some time after, a member immediately posted my photo (hosted on some random blog) under mine implying I had lifted it. I was basically accused of stealing my own photo! |

Mfer, sorry man! i didnt mean anything bad by re-posting a pic like that. Should have quoted it. Too funny of a story speed!
I was just showing my girl a good representation of the straps, and which I would want(wink, wink) haha sorry about not even knowing acknowledging that you put a price down for pre-owned. would you buy pre-owned or new? what are you determining factors? Here is a pic from wikipedia. looks very similar to the 111, except the lack of "marina militare" |

Dude, it doesn't bother me. But I'm warning you, it does bother some. I would definitely go pre-owned. Both of mine are pre-owned. Your girl could wear 'em too. Just get her an LV strap! My determining factors are flawless dial and hands, box and papers, no gauges/dents and a seller I'm comfortable with. Scratches are fine, I actually like a few small ones here and there. Makes it more vintage.

I found both of mine on Paneristi
One was from a person who actually worked at an AD in Seattle and he just wanted to sell the one he wore for a few years to get some diving equipment. Another was a guy I found locally (well, about 2 hour drive away) so it was a face to face deal, but found on Paneristi. If you look here: Paneristi CM here: timezone < 5k, you'll find one. You could also contact Mosco, Oscar, David, etc and they'll be able to get you one. The 111 is kind of like the Rolex Sub. Most all owners have or have had one.

Chach,
I bought mine pre-owned from a TRF member. Try pinging Oscar or Mosco. These guys deal a lot of PAMs...and they are Rock Solid guys. < Doh...Mik was too fast for me > |

I chose the 111 over the 112 simply because of the seconds function. The first PAM I ever laid eyes on was the 112 and I have wanted one for almost 3 years. When it came down to purchasing one I was introduced to the 111. I wanted to know that the watch was working especially since this watch is not automatic. I actually like the seconds hand though. I wear the 111 every weekend. I love the fact that nobody knows what the watch is or its history. When I wear the Rolex or Omega people always ask me if they are real. I have only encountered one person who recognized my watch so far.
